Boot Camp
Well, a week ago, I was invited to an extra special event held in London's SoHo, at the not so glamorous location of an NCP carpark! Going up to the third floor, I was met with an array of destroyed cars, army rations, and more importantly, a load of Xbox 360's hooked up with the new COD4 maps playing on rotate!
After stocking up on some army rations, I settled down to play some of the new maps for a little while. 'Canyon' was by far and away the best, being a huge, mainly open arena, but with enough cover to keep it a tactical experience. The 'Killhouse' map was also really fun, providing close quarters mayhem.
Then Iain Lee came out to do his presentey-stuff-thing, and announced the day's competition, as well as introducing us to some of the devs behind the game.
The competitions were pretty cool, with the chance to win some serious AV equipment, but I finished fourth in my heat, missing out by one spot on ending up in the semi-finals. I also didn't have chance to play a dev, but those matches looked pretty fixed! You could also win t-shirts and tattoos from some of the various scantily clad Activision girls about, but they weren't forthcoming either!
Finally, we were presented with a goody bag containing more rations, COD4 cards, and a code to get the new maps for free (yay!). The new maps seem like a great addition to an already solid game, and as they are now available on Live, they are well worth checking out!
