Do an 'Unlimited' Test Drive
In a few months, at this moment scheduled for a release this "summer", Eden Studios and publisher Atari will unleash the next and new "Test Drive" game on Microsoft's new console, the Xbox 360. This new game will take advantage of the full power of the Xbox 360 according to its developer and its called: "Test Drive: Unlimited". Wether if there are 'unlimited' ways of driving, cars or tracks ... we'll know when the final retail hits the office.
In the meantime here's a preview of this new "Test Drive" game which will certainly lets others bites the dust. Or keep you from playing those "old and dusty" but still awesome "Test Drive" games.
A M.O.O.R. game ?
With the ability for thousands of gamers to play simultaneously, "Test Drive: Unlimited" is M.O.O.R.: Massively Open Online Racing. This is a truly unprecedented experience for racing gamers and is the ultimate automotive experience for car enthusiasts.
Once in the game, players can visit the most sophisticated car dealers to purchase new vehicles or simply take them for a spin. Gamers can then participate in 16 player races or take vehicles for a drive on over 1000 miles of diverse Hawaiian roads and pass by thousands of other real players. Further, players can collect and trade rare performance parts and customize each vehicle to make it one-of-a-kind. Finally, gamers win races, challenges, missions and tournaments to earn credits and purchase new cars, bikes, rare performance parts, clothes, apparel, homes and garages.
And trust me, that isn't the only 'interesting' bit of the whole game.
Getting Test Drive with it
"Test Drive: Unlimited" from developer Eden Studios isn't what you call an "ordinary" racing game. Not only is it a "exclusive only" for Xbox 360, the game will boost challenges, opponents and competitions. Eden Studios also promised that they'll provide new downloadable content as much as possible, ranging from monthly additions of vehicles, aftermarket parts, clothes and apparel.
The game already boosts a enormous amount of licensed cars, around 125 and even exclusive manufacturers are involved in developing the game so names like Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes, Saleen, Shelby, and Jaguar are all there, waiting to accelerate that pedal hard!
Of course Test Drive: Unlimited is using the power of the Xbox 360 and the final game will provide us very realistic vehicles (take a look at the shots below), amazing render quality and unrivalled interior details including full car functions. Forget that 'radio' from Outrun, 'Test Drive: Unlimited' will feature radio, electric windows, horn, wipers and much much more!
What's more is that it isn't just racing. In 'TDU' you'll be able, as a player to upgrade each car with options from the actual car manufacturers catalog! Isn't that exciting? Players create characters, buy new homes and garages, and tune and upgrade vehicles with aftermarket parts.
TDU will also feature a very 'large' online amount so you can definitely expect to see this title hit Xbox Live as soon as its released. You'll be able to create challenges or races from more than 50 game rules and settings. Even uploading your own created challenges online is included so you can become in full glory part of the online community.
Besides uploading your own challenges, players will also be able to create or join a club to talk ,chat, trade and even race or organize club-based competitions and tournaments. It seems that Eden Studios puts a lot more effort in the online community then any other developer that creates racing games. Certainly a plus for the game but hopefully the 'offline' part will just be as good as.
It's still a few months away before it will actual hit retail market so some 'features' can still be changed or even added. The game hasn't reached "gold status" yet so Eden Studios can still 'finish' all those rough edges to make it the best offline and online racing game ever!
As soon as we got more news regarding the gold status of the game and availability to hit retail we'll certainly post it in the news section.
Enjoy these "fresh & new" screenshots of Test Drive: Unlimited as well!
