2K today announced that BioShock, its highly anticipated and award-winning innovative first person shooter, will be released exclusively on Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows, the new brand optimized for Windows XP and Windows Vista. Slated for 2007 and developed by Irrational Games, a 2K development studio, BioShock will forever change the expectations for the first-person shooter.
“2K is excited to release BioShock exclusively on Xbox 360 and under the Games for Windows brand on the PC,” said Christoph Hartmann, President, 2K. “BioShock is the next step in the evolution of first-person shooters and a perfect title to push the limits of Xbox 360.”
”We expect BioShock will set a new mark in next generation gaming when it launches next year,” said George Peckham, general manager, global third party publishing for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft. “We’re thrilled that gamers will be able to experience BioShock only as an Xbox 360 and Games for Windows title.”
The Games for Windows branding ensures that consumers have a consistent, reliable gaming experience on Windows XP and Windows Vista with easier game installation, improved reliability, and support for key Windows Vista features. These titles will also support wide-screen gaming, can be launched from within Windows Media Center, will be compatible with 64 bit consumer versions of Windows and support the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.
Taking full advantage of both Microsoft platforms, BioShock takes place among the ruins of an underwater utopia. After your plane crashes into icy, uncharted waters, you discover a rusted bathysphere and descend into Rapture, a city hidden beneath the sea. Constructed as an ideal society for a hand-picked group of scientists, artists and industrialists, Rapture collapsed under the weight of its own idealism. Now the city is littered with corpses, wildly powerful guardians roam the corridors, mutated little girls scavenge the dead, and genetically modified citizens ambush you at every turn.
BioShock is in development for Xbox 360 and Windows and will be released in 2007.

Eidos Interactive, one of the world’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is proud to announce the new next-generation title, CROSSFIRE (working title) debuting exclusively first on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games for Windows.
When the US government needs intelligence but wants no association with an operation, deniable operatives are dispatched. Responsible for covert paramilitary actions, the Special Activities Division is a division of the Central Intelligence Agency’s former Directorate of Operations, now the National Clandestine Service. Members of the unit must bear no identity; no objects, papers or clothing that could associate them in any way with their employees, CROSSFIRE draws its inspiration from this group of highly skilled individuals.
An innovative new two player co-op FPS from award-winning developers, Pivotal Games, CROSSFIRE is set in today’s delicately balanced political climate, focusing on two covert field operatives, experts in weapons and military tactics. CROSSFIRE allows players the freedom to switch seamlessly, at any point, between these two operatives to lay down cover fire, explore different paths through levels, create a distraction or pin down the enemy under crossfire. The intuitive command system encourages the player to focus 100% on action, without a moment to catch their breath. Featuring full destructible environments and Hollywood-esque explosive moments, the game takes place in politically sensitive areas across South America, Africa and Siberia.
“Being able to develop a true next generation title is always both exciting and challenging,” said Darren Barnett, Development Director, Eidos. “We are able to utilise the power of Xbox 360 in so many different areas, such as making use of true next-gen lighting techniques, designing fully destructible environments and really exploiting the game’s concepts into new multiplayer areas with the Xbox Live® online game service. CROSSFIRE will offer a new approach to the next-gen FPS genre.”
CROSSFIRE (working title) will be coming to Xbox 360 in 2007.

Then build your squad, train them and see how far they can get in the space of 6 months. Some professional managers don’t even get that long!
In the Xbox 360 demo, players take charge of Liverpool in a prestigious European tie with Inter Milan at the new Wembley Stadium. This is a must-see spectacle in its own right, as the real life stadium is still under construction.
The demo starts on the match day screen where managers can tweak the squad and decide on their match-winning tactics before kick-off. Then, as the match plays out in the next generation of LMA Manager’s acclaimed interactive 3D Match engine, bring on substitutes, make cunning tactical changes and yell at the players on the pitch from the touchline with the dugout shouts feature.

Nintendo will reshape the home entertainment and video game landscape with the launch of its heralded Wii™ home video game console. Wii will go on sale in the Americas on November 19th and Japan on December 2nd - European launch date, price and software line up will be announced at a press conference in London tomorrow (Friday 15th).
Wii will be sold as an affordable, mass-consumer product at an MSRP in the US of just $249.99. The price includes one wireless Wii Remote controller, one Nunchuk™ controller and the groundbreaking collection of five different Wii Sports games on one disc, which anyone can play using simple physical movements, experienced or not.
Every Wii console will include another distinctive feature: a series of on-screen “channels” that make up the Wii Channel Menu, which makes the console approachable and customizable for everyone, from the most avid gamer to people who have never played before. The Wii Channel Menu is the starting point for all of the console’s functions. The “channels” offer a gateway to a rich variety of entertainment options. When connected to a TV, the Wii Channel Menu offers a simple interface letting users pick games to play, get news or weather, upload and send photos or even create playable caricatures of themselves to use in actual games. The variety of options available through the Wii Channel Menu motivates both gamers and non-gamers to turn on Wii’s power every day.
Between launch day and Dec. 31, Wii owners across America will enjoy a robust lineup of 30 software titles, with selections for everyone from video game veterans to newcomers. Some top Nintendo launch titles include Wii Sports, a compilation of tennis, baseball, golf and bowling; The Legend of ZeldaÆ: Twilight Princess; and EXCITE TRUCK™. While publishers are free to set their own prices for games, first-party Nintendo titles will have an MSRP of $49.99. Wii’s self-loading media bay also can play the entire library of more than 530 Nintendo GameCube™ titles from day one.
Third-party developers around the world have lined up to provide unprecedented support for Wii, “I believe the Wii will attract new and casual gamers to the world of interactive entertainment,” says Larry Probst, Chairman and CEO, Electronic Arts. “It’s a fun, easy and economical system that will become a bridge to gaming for mainstream audiences. At EA, we are putting more support behind the Wii than any Nintendo hardware launch since the Super NES.”
Additional information about the list of Virtual Console games and the pricing structure will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Broken Sword: The Angel of Death Unsheathed

Broken Sword: The Angel of Death, the latest computer game from revered York-based developer Revolution Studios, is released tomorrow, 10 years after the series’ original title hypothesised ideas which would later spawn a genre of religion-conspiracy thrillers.
The original in the series, Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars, published in 1996, pitched an American male lead and a female French protagonist into a terrifying plot involving church and state in a thrilling adventure. The game drew on the historical backdrop of the Knights Templar with conspiracies that resonated through to the present day. Indeed many fans of the series consider that this must have provided a direct inspiration for the characters in the best-selling novel ‘The Da Vinci Code’.
The latest in the series – Broken Sword: The Angel of Death – once again sees unwitting hero George Stobbart investigate dark secrets from a long-forgotten history, uncovering a nefarious plot and an age-old rivalry between the world's most powerful factions, and exposing a secret that they have secretly fought over for millennia. It is a secret that will ultimately lead George's latest adventure, filled with intrigue, passion and love, to a climatic but ultimately tragic conclusion.
Broken Sword: The Angel of Death retains many of the ingredients which made the original title such a hit: an intelligent plot, thought-provoking puzzles and lavish production values.
Broken Sword: The Angel of Death will be published by THQ for PC on Friday, 15th September 2006.

Atari and 10tacle Studios today announced that development is complete on the eagerly awaited Windows racing game ‘GTR 2 – FIA GT Racing Game’, the follow up to the globally acclaimed FIA GT game GTR from developer SimBin.
Already well on the way to re-affirming the position of the franchise as the ultimate PC racing simulation, GTR 2 is scheduled for release across Europe on 29th September 2006.
GTR 2 takes the franchise to new heights with a monumental 140+ accurately modelled cars from two full FIA GT seasons and a higher level of painstaking detail than ever seen before. The slightest scratch will show up on the pristine bodywork, and even mild collision damage to the chassis will alter the handling, while big crunches send debris flying spectacularly in all directions. Players can even see the brake discs visibly change colour as they get hotter beneath the rims. GTR 2 also features a driving school where players can take lessons on cornering, braking and overtaking techniques to help them on their breakneck journey to becoming the ultimate GT driver.
“GTR 2 has taken this incredibly strong franchise up the next level in terms of detail and realism, which is no mean feat given the exquisite GTR that preceded it,” said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. “Europe’s media are already responding to this, lavishing comprehensive praise and fantastic review scores on this magnificent product.”
