“Halo 3,” the final chapter in the groundbreaking “Halo” trilogy and the most anticipated game release of 2007, has been released to manufacturing.

Three years in the making by renowned developer Bungie Studios, “Halo 3” is now finished and will begin its journey to store shelves around the world in less than four weeks. “Halo 3,” which has already set new records as the fastest preordered game in history, has exceeded one million presales in North America alone. The title is set to shatter day-one entertainment sales records when it is released worldwide beginning Tuesday, Sept. 25.

“This is a huge milestone for us and a big cause for celebration at Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios,” said Harold Ryan, Studio Head at Bungie Studios. “This is the game we’ve always wanted to make and certainly the best game our studio has developed. We can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on it on Sept. 25.”

Created by legendary developer Bungie Studios and exclusive to the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system, “Halo 3” will set a new standard for interactive storytelling and social gaming by engaging consumers worldwide in Master Chief’s epic battle to save humankind. In November 2004, the world’s view of video games changed forever with the release of “Halo 2,” which generated a record-setting $125 million (U.S.) in sales within the first 24 hours and changed the way people think about interactive entertainment. Three years later, it remains the most-played game on Microsoft’s Xbox LIVE® online gaming and entertainment network, with nearly 1 billion hours of online gaming logged to date.

[Category : PSP] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, August 29 2007 @ 16:10 CET]
Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today released Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the PSP system.

Monster Hunter has quickly become one of the most successful series for Capcom, with sales in excess of four million units worldwide. Capcom’s previously released Monster Hunter Portable was a runaway hit, with an attach rate of nearly one game sold for every five PSP systems in Japan.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, recently released in Japan, has already surpassed sales of more than one million units, cementing its position as one of the most successful series on the PSP system. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is rated T for Teen by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) and is now available for a suggested retail price of $39.95.

“Monster Hunter Freedom’s incredible graphics, deep gameplay and compelling multiplayer quests represent the very best that the PSP system has to offer,” said Mark Beaumont, executive vice president, officer and head of Capcom consumer software publishing in the Americas and Europe. “In Japan, we’ve seen the Monster Hunter phenomenon take off based on players coming together for face-to-face multiplayer ‘hunting parties,’ which we will foster with our own community here in North America.”

The non-stop epic hunt-or-be-hunted adventure continues with more content and options than ever before. Monster Hunter Freedom 2 builds on Monster Hunter 2 (Dos) for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system (previously released in Japan only) and contains more than 50 percent more content than the original Monster Hunter Freedom. In this unique action-adventure game, gamers increase their play skills as they battle through breath-taking environments while defeating bloodthirsty creatures.

As mighty hunters, players can face a variety of quests alone, but the true spirit of the game comes from playing with others. Multiplayer cooperative battles for up to four friends via wireless ad hoc mode foster team building and strategy for the ultimate battle of man vs. beast. Players can fully customize their characters, building up their abilities with armor and weaponry as they make their way through hundreds of quests. With the addition of infrastructure functionality, players will now be able to download even more content and quests.

Finally, Two Worlds available in US !
[Category : Multiplatform] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, August 27 2007 @ 16:26 CET]
SouthPeak Games, from the 2007 Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), today announced that Two Worlds, the publisher’s new, open-ended role-playing game for PC and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft is now available in stores nationwide.

Two Worlds features over a hundred hours of single-player quests, stackable weapons and magic, as well as epic online multiplayer PvP and RPG gameplay. PAX show attendees will be among the first to experience Two Worlds through demos and mini competitions at the SouthPeak Booth # 603 during the three-day game festival for tabletop, videogame, and PC gamers.

Developed by TopWare Interactive and Reality Pump Studios, Two Worlds delivers the ultimate role-playing challenge. The game features unprecedented “player freedom,” with player decisions shaping the world permanently and directly affecting how the world reacts to the mere presence of the main mercenary character. Their journeys will take them through cities, dungeons, snow-covered mountains, bamboo forests, barren deserts and cause kings to be overthrown, cities to be sacked, and organizations to be eradicated. The world lives its own life, but it’s well within the player’s power to change it. The entire game of Two Worlds explodes with personality and original features like stackable weapons and magic - for the first time in an RPG, every item you collect has value. The ambience is at a new level with stunning graphics and Grammy Award winning composer Harold Faltermeyer providing the soundtrack. Combine this with online options that allow players to adventure together, and it’s easy to see why Two Worlds is destined to become the premier role-playing game experience.

“Two Worlds is a huge leap forward for role-playing games in terms of scale and new ideas,” said Melanie Mroz, Executive VP of SouthPeak. “We can’t wait for everyone to start exploring the world of Antaloor.”

The storyline, based in the ancient world of Antaloor, thrusts players into a silent war amongst all of the civilized races and the Orc hordes, an evil legion of vicious beasts. The Orcs are desperately seeking to rediscover the power of their fallen leader, Aziraal, the god of war to launch their own holy crusade and take over the world. As one of the few people able to unlock the secrets of Aziraal’s tomb, gamers play a pivotal role in this ancient conflict. All the forces of the world wish to find the tomb first and seize its power. It is up to the players to save the world or destroy it.

Note:
As for European gamers, we were informed that the game should finally hit the shelves beginning of September.

Atari announce Lucky Luke: Go West !
[Category : Multiplatform] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, August 27 2007 @ 16:22 CET]
Atari today announced the forthcoming release of Lucky Luke: Go West! for PC, Wii and Nintendo DS, an action packed platform game based on the adventures of legendary animated cowboy Lucky Luke in the forthcoming full-length animated feature film ‘Go West!’. The film is slated for December 2007 release in France and other European territories, following the video game launch in the autumn.

“Following the great success Infogrames has enjoyed with the Lucky Luke license in the past, we are extremely pleased to be working with licensor Lucky Comics and film producer Xilam on a brand new Lucky Luke product,” said Mathias Hautefort, Executive Vice President of publishing and production, Atari. “We are already working closely with them to ensure that this title delivers everything consumers expect from the license, and a high quality game.”

“We are very excited to have Atari bring our film to so many great game platforms,” said Marc du Pontavice, founder and President of Xilam. “We are very happy to be working closely with them to turn this story into such compelling gameplay.”

Inspired by the cucumber-cool cowboy’s adventures in the comic book ‘The Caravan’, Lucky Luke: Go West! lets players jump into his spurred boots for a thrill-a-minute journey escorting the notorious Dalton brothers to New York to stand trial. Of course, the Daltons do what they do best – they escape, rob banks, wreak havoc and blow stuff up. Throw in the tenacious Lucky Luke, his faithful steed Jolly Jumper, tribes of deadly Indians, cops by the cart-load, and a vast wagon train where the Daltons mislay their ill-gotten gains and the result is a wild world of hilarious new western adventures.

Play as a selection of different characters from the famous stories, including the Daltons and of course Luke himself, through the fun and colourful environments from the parched western desert to the mean streets of the Big Apple. A host of frenetic mini-games will test much more than the speed of the player’s draw with chaotic shooting, drawing, steering, dancing and music games. Take on the story mode solo or invite up to 3 friends to join in for party mode mayhem and see who really does have the fastest draw in the west.

Shooting faster than his shadow, Lucky Luke fights crime and injustice across the wild plains of the old west. Lucky Luke is one of the most popular and best-selling comic-book series in Europe with more than 250 million comic books sold in 20 countries. A total of 80 comic books, four feature length animated cartoons, two live action films, three cartoon series and five video games have been released to date, and the award-winning ‘The New Adventures of Lucky Luke’ animated TV series is currently broadcast in more than 20 countries worldwide from France to Indonesia.

Developed by Tate Interactive (Wii, PC) and Neko (DS), Lucky Luke: Go West! is scheduled for release across Europe this autumn.

Eidos announces Conflict: Denied Ops
[Category : Multiplatform] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, August 21 2007 @ 15:30 CET]
Eidos Interactive, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is proud to announce the new next-generation title in the acclaimed Conflict series, CONFLICT: DENIED OPS for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Previously announced under the working title of CROSSFIRE, CONFLICT: DENIED OPS is an innovative new two player co-op FPS from award-winning developers, Pivotal Games, and is the fifth game in the best selling Conflict series.

CONFLICT: DENIED OPS is set in today’s volatile political climate, focusing on two covert field operatives, experts in weapons and military tactics. The game allows players to switch seamlessly, at any point, between these two operatives to lay down covering fire, explore diverging paths through the levels, create distractions and pin the enemy under fire.

Making full use of Pivotal’s new Puncture Technology™, the game features a highly destructible environment, allowing players to shoot through walls to create sniping holes or blast through walls to take the enemy by surprise. Taking place in politically sensitive areas across South America, Africa and Russia, CONFLICT: DENIED OPS features an intuitive command system, non-stop action and Hollywood-esque explosive moments throughout.

“This is our first chance to develop a Conflict game for next-gen platforms,” said Alex McLean, Technical Director at Pivotal. “Working on the 360 and PS3 we’ve been able to take the series to new heights, with true next-gen lighting, advanced enemy AI, an explosive environment and unique tactical co-op gameplay. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS marks a new era for the Conflict series.”

When the US government needs intelligence but wants no association with an operation, deniable operatives are dispatched. Responsible for covert paramilitary actions, the Special Activities Division is a division of the Central Intelligence Agency, now the National Clandestine Service. Members of the unit must bear no identity; no objects, papers or clothing that could associate them in any way with their employees. CONFLICT: DENIED OPS draws its inspiration from this group of highly skilled individuals.

CONFLICT: DENIED OPS will be coming to Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2008.
