Rising Star announce Pilot Academy for PSP
[Category : PSP] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, August 31 2005 @ 16:48 CET]
Marvelous Interactive, has today unveiled the first details and images of Pilot Academy, the first flight simulator to be available for the Sony PlayStation Portable.

Available in March 2006, Pilot Academy is an extension of the hugely-successful Japanese flight sim series 'Pilot Ni Narou!', directly translated as "Let's Become A Pilot!", which first appeared in 1998 and has been released on both PlayStation and PlayStation 2. The game will offer both civilian and military flight simulation, with both single-player missions and challenges and multi-player aerial combat.

Pilot Academy is being developed by Kuju, with design duties handled by Pilot Ni Narou! series producer Junichi Kutsuzawa. This fusion of East and West development talent will ensure the game retains the spirit of the original titles whilst making the most of the PlayStation Portable's formidable hardware.

The game is built upon staggering technology, which represents the landscapes from 30,000ft down to landing – and with three regions to explore, each around 64km square, this handheld flight sim packs significantly more than its home console counterparts. Controls offer the complexity of piloting a range of aircraft without insisting players are double-jointed, and the game will provide specific vocal instructions for those who veer off course.

Pilot Academy begins with a series of training exercises which teach the basics of flight. From there, players can jump into the cockpit of commercial, private and military planes in a series of increasingly tough challenges and missions.

Four eras of combat plane are represented – from World War I, through World War II, and The Cold War, to modern-day combat, each with their own challenges. All types and sizes of civilian planes are on offer – from crop sprayers to massive 300-seater passenger jets, and everything in between – with appropriate challenges for each class. Stunt aircraft will test dexterity, whist commercial aircraft will demand other skills – such as emergency landings in fierce conditions.

Each successful completion of a challenge allows players to select other planes and scenarios, each unique to the class of aircraft they are currently piloting. Records and achievements are recorded, providing further incentive to replay missions and challenges for additional reward.

Up to eight players will be able to take part in four different multiplayer games – with the 'Deathmatch' mode available to any PSP owner, whether they own a copy of the game or not.

Pilot Academy will be published by Rising Star Games for Sony PSP in March 2006.
Lunar RPG is coming to your DS
  [Category : Nintendo_DS] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, August 31 2005 @ 16:47 CET]
Rising Star Games, the European wing of Japanese publisher and developer Marvelous Interactive Inc. has announced that the Nintendo DS will be playing host to the next iteration in the Lunar series of RPGs. Set for European release in late autumn, Lunar Genesis will feature several innovations making the most of the unique features of the Nintendo DS and includes a brand new multiplayer battle mode.

Set in an expansive fantasy universe and beautifully presented in a rich, vibrant visual style, the world of Lunar has seen a number of versions across several formats, spanning 14 years and three generations of hardware. Set a thousand years before previous storylines, Lunar Genesis tells the tale of a band of young adventurers performing courier jobs who stumble into a battle between the forces of good and evil. This battle threatens to consume the entire land and sets the stage for over 70 hours of handheld RPG adventuring.

With all of the standard features associated with a traditional Japanese RPG, Lunar Genesis is adapted perfectly to take advantage of the benefits afforded by the Nintendo DS hardware. All aspects of player interaction, from movement around the game environments to map and menu navigation can be controlled via the touch-screen. Both displays are employed throughout the game to make sure the player has access to all the information they need. The dual screens are also fundamental to the battle system, with airborne enemies occupying the upper screen and traditional ground-based troops on the bottom. Even the microphone is used, as blowing on it during a fight acts as a 'panic button'.

Perhaps the most exciting feature for series fans and newcomers alike is the inclusion of the Coliseum mode, a wireless multiplayer battle where scratch cards earned during the singleplayer quest can be used to take on other players. The participants literally scratch off squares on the touch-screen, the outcome of which dictates the flow of combat. The winner gets to keep the loser's card for use in further Coliseum battles or to aid them in their singleplayer questing.

With its wealth of features and rich game world, Lunar Genesis will be released by Rising Star Games in November 2005.

Dancing Stage: Mario Mix coming for your GameCube
[Category : GameCube] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, August 30 2005 @ 14:03 CET]
A new form of freestyle is hitting the streets on 28th October 2005 when Dancing Stage: Mario Mix launches across Europe for Nintendo GameCube. Forget the Macarena and definitely don't get caught disco dancing - this year, people will be busting a move to the sounds of the Mario Beat.

Heralding from music maestros Konami - world renowned for their Dance Dance Revolution games - Dancing Stage: Mario Mix combines classic rhythm based action with an exciting Mario storyline and characters. The result is Nintendo GameCube's first ever dancing game. Bundled with the "Action Pad"- a special Dance Mat controller - Dancing Stage: Mario Mix is guaranteed to be the next dancing phenomenon.

Luigi's nemesis Waluigi, has stolen four magic music keys, upsetting the natural balance of the Mushroom Kingdom and letting the unchecked melodies run riot. Mario and his friends have to journey through five lands, using their dancing skills to reclaim the keys and keep the escaped music in check.

Players follow onscreen directions as they dance along to music. As the song plays, coloured arrows rise up the screen from the bottom to the top. Players must step on the correct arrow as it reaches a bar at the top of the screen. Stepping on the correct arrow fills the player's energy gauge. If the player misses an arrow, the energy gauge is reduced; miss too many and it is game over.

As players progress through the single player missions they will get to travel around much of the vibrant and colourful Mushroom Kingdom. Each song features a different location, related to how it fits into Story Mode. Players will dance their way through levels ranging from underground 'Piranha Plant' infested caverns, to a fairground rollercoaster. Dancing Stage: Mario Mix is an exciting vacation for all the senses that has to be experienced to be really appreciated.

Dancing Stage: Mario Mix features a selection of over 25 classic Nintendo tunes and funky dance music to strut your stuff to. Well known Nintendo music from games including the Super Mario Bros. series, Super Mario World, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Party 5, Donkey Kong and Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door all feature in the game, along with a multitude of other titles. This alone makes Dancing Stage: Mario Mix a retro revival for Nintendo fans old and new.

Players will be kept busy for weeks with a selection of no less than five different modes to dance their way through. The game's main single player adventure, Story Mode, allows players to dance through a Mario adventure at various skill levels. Other options include Free Mode, where players can play any song they have unlocked, a multiplayer dance off, a fitness level that tells players how many calories they have burned and a Mini Game, where players can play different mini games unlocked in Story Mode.

Players are presented with the unique opportunity to compete in the ultimate dance off within the multiplay function. Up to two players can dance cooperatively and competitively using a split screen. Players can each select a different skill level, allowing fair competition whether they are novices or pros. At the end of the song, each player is given their score total and a rank, proving who the dancing king or queen is once and for all!

Dancing Stage: Mario Mix will be grooving its way onto a Nintendo GameCube near you on 28th October 2005 for around 60 Euros, inclusive of the Action Pad.

Operation Flashpoint: Elite to blast onto Xbox this November
  [Category : X_Box] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, August 30 2005 @ 14:01 CET]
The hugely anticipated Xbox edition of Operation Flashpoint, the most realistic and complex military combat simulator, will launch in November as Operation Flashpoint: Elite complete with online play over Xbox Live, Codemasters confirmed today.

Developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio and specifically adapted for Xbox from the PC original, Operation Flashpoint: Elite lets gamers experience the award-winning title.

On Xbox, the game retains all the depth and immense content of the original and takes you right into the heart of a gripping Cold War conflict between NATO coalition forces and a renegade Soviet Red army faction.

The game's intense campaigns and solo missions deliver deeply believable military situations and gives you complete freedom to handle any flashpoint on your own initiative.

Operation Flashpoint: Elite is powered by Bohemia's technology which is also used in real-world training by various military organisations around the world including the US Army and US Marines.

The scenario is modern warfare

It is 1985, in the midst of the Cold War, and Gorbachev has been elected to power bringing with him policies of glasnost and perestroika. However, resistance Soviet groups are opposed to the new wave and are refusing to serve the new regime in Moscow.

One group has taken control of an island community, and is using it as an armed stronghold for the old order. Operation Flashpoint: Elite opens with the player joining the neighbouring US force against the Soviets. Once past the mission briefing stage, it's your decision how the overall mission or campaign is tackled.

For the first time in such a military simulator, players control and command soldiers and squads of all levels and over 40 authentic land, sea and air vehicles – both military and civilian. You'll be controlling individual soldiers, commanding squads, driving tanks, troop carriers, piloting military helicopters to taking on the role of a sniper.

This variety also allows players to experience a huge mixture of strategic action gameplay and, thanks to the artificial intelligence applied to the game's infantry they think, move and act as troops do in a conflict situation.

The open environment of the game is massive, covering four 100+ Km2 battle zones, and you can go anywhere at anytime – you're not limited to playing in mission-specific 'walled' areas – and anything can happen.

On Xbox Live, Operation Flashpoint: Elite really brings conflicts alive with players engaged online in over 50 multiplayer missions.

Plus, a real beauty of Operation Flashpoint: Elite is its user friendly Mission Editor. Accessed from the main menu, you simply enter map view, select an area and build up a situation using any of the troops, weapons and mobile units from the game.

Tons of bonus content can be unlocked in the game, including an additional 15-mission campaign called 'Resistance', which casts the player into the role of local resistance leader Viktor Troska and the forms prequel to the storyline of the main Cold War Crisis campaign.

Atmospheric and immersive, Operation Flashpoint: Elite works on so many levels thanks to its open, expansive environments and its run-the-mission-the-way-you-want gameplay.

Prepare to experience war like never before on Xbox, when Operation Flashpoint: Elite is published in November by Codemasters.

  [Category : General_News] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, August 25 2005 @ 13:49 CET]
Normally we don't do these kind of newsposts but since the owner of that site is a friend of mine , any help is appreciated!

The website is called "BeRacing" and basically it's a meet site for any gamer that loves to play the simulation racing game "GTR" from simbin.

Here's quick description of the site:

BeRacing was founded in March 2005 by Sloeri and Fretbol. The idea behind BeRacing was to create a place for sim-racing enthousiasts who could race together in an online community.

After a few races BeRacing already had several dedicated racers who found themselves racing and battling on track at numerous BeRacing events.

Although we don't have the funds and resources to host on professional servers, we found a bunch of guys who really enjoyed our little online leagues.

The succes of our first league encouraged us enough to continue with our community and we are looking forward to racing with old and new BeRacing members in several new leagues !

If you want to check it out, play with other fans together, playing cups, leagues etc, only one address BeRacing.

Timeshift for Xbox 360 ... spring 2006
  [Category : X_Box_360] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, August 24 2005 @ 12:45 CET]
Atari today announced that its upcoming groundbreaking action game TimeShift will ship next spring for the Xbox 360TM video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Currently in development by Saber Interactive, TimeShift is an original first-person shooter offering unprecedented time-control elements that allow players to completely manipulate the flow of time throughout the duration of the game.

"TimeShift is a perfect title for the Xbox 360," said Marc Metis, Senior Vice President, Marketing at Atari. "Powered by Saber Interactive's superior Saber3D engine, TimeShift will take full advantage of the power and functionality of the Xbox 360, especially Xbox LiveTM."

Based in the near future, TimeShift tells the story of renowned test pilot Colonel Michael Swift, who has been tapped by the US Government to test two of the most significant inventions of the century - a time-control device called the Quantum Suit and a time machine called the Chronomicon. Swift is briefly sent back in time to 1911 to plant an experimental probe. Upon his return to the present, the world has changed beyond all recognition, and his knowledge of this timeshift has made him an enemy of the state. Swift is now both on the run and on a mission to set time straight once again and the world's very existence rests in his hands.

TimeShift's unprecedented technology empowers gamers the ability to slow, stop and reverse the flow of time around them while remaining completely unaffected. These first-time ever complex time control scenarios are an integral part of gameplay, and lead TimeShift to take first-person action games in an entirely new direction.

Saber Interactive's proprietary Saber3D game engine includes groundbreaking graphics technology, such as normal mapping to create highly detailed textures and characters, as well as advanced parallax lighting, allowing for realistic depth to environmental textures. The game engine also incorporates futuristic physics technology for in-game objects and characters.

TimeShift will be released in spring 2006 for both Xbox 360 and the Windows platform and for Xbox in summer 2006.

Konami announces Lost in Blue for NDS
  [Category : Nintendo_DS] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, August 18 2005 @ 15:06 CET]
Konami of Europe unveils Lost in Blue, an imaginative and unique adventure game for the Nintendo DS handheld system
17th August, 2005

Konami of Europe will continue its support of the Nintendo DS format with the release of the unique Lost in Blue this November.

Lost in Blue makes full use of the Nintendo system's dual-screen and touch panel interface to create one of the most original and engrossing role-playing titles seen on any format. Assuming control of a young hero who finds himself awash on a seemingly uninhabited island after a disastrous sea incident, the player is charged with escaping from this apparently deserted paradise.

During the course of the adventure, the player will meet a girl who was also stranded in the accident and, together, they must learn key skills in order to survive. As such, Lost in Blue focuses on the pair's efforts at hunting, scavenging for food, and using and making tools as they wander freely around the beautiful locale. Likewise, as the game progresses, so the relationship between the two characters grows as they learn to trust and share their skills with each other.

Where Lost in Blue differs from most role-playing games is in its stunning use of the Nintendo DS's touch screen capabilities. Using the system's stylus, players have full control as they fish, hunt, dig and even milk goats in their hunt for food. These functions are shown as a series of mini-games designed to test the player's reflexes and deftness of touch, with each character offering particular skills which must be exploited.

Success or failure in these missions also affects the narrative flow, with Lost in Blue's story constantly evolving and Lost in Blue boasts several different endings dependent on the relationship between the two characters, their lifestyle, dialogue and the eventual manner of their escape. On completing the game, Lost in Blue will also offer a second adventure seen through the eyes of the female character, significantly extending the game's replay value.

Lost in Blue will be released for Nintendo DS in November, 2005.
Rengoku: The Tower on Purgatory soon for PSP
[Category : PSP] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, August 18 2005 @ 15:06 CET]
Konami of Europe has announced that it will release Rengoku: The Tower of Purgatory, an original sci-fi title for PSP, in October.

The latest original PSP title from Konami, Rengoku is a free-roaming adventure, utilising an imaginative science fiction scenario, and extensively illustrated with stunning visuals designed by renowned Japanese illustrator, Jun Suemi. Suemi-san's trademark dark and foreboding style brings to life Rengoku's fusion of East and West sci-fi elements, as the player is drawn into a dark and distant future and cast as a finely-tuned battle android.

Cybernetic fighter, A.D.A.M. finds himself in the Tower of Purgatory, where discarded battle androids are sent to fight out eternity. Increasingly self-aware, he aims to rise through the tower's hazard-filled stages to find the answers every sentient being seeks: Who am I, why am I? He must accrue new weapons and technologies and use them against the increasingly tough guards within the edifice as he rises through the levels.

Rengoku has been designed to maximise the capabilities of the new PSP hardware, with the hardware's wireless technology allowing for multi-player modes for up to four people, including the ability to trade items with other players or compete in death-match tournaments within the tower's corridors. The game also boasts randomised levels to extend the game's longevity and replay value, forcing the player to manage their resources and weapons as they face unfamiliar stages.

PlayDevil.com reviews Logic 3's X99L Laser Blaster

We have finished our in-depth review of Logic 3's lightgun for the X-Box, the 'X99L Laser Blaster'.

Here's a snip from the review:

The Laser Blaster is compatible with all X-Box LightGun games and can be used for NTSC and PAL X-Box consoles. It has a built in directional control pad which make it a lot easier to navigate throughout the entire game and menus.
It also has an unique RECOIL vibration feature and Laser Targeting Pointer. Using Recoil is just like a real gun. When firing a shot, you'll actually 'feel' every shot! It so real, people would think you're using a real gun instead of just a play'light'gun. It definitely sets the atmosphere right.

Nintendo US lowers price for NDS At $129.99
  [Category : Nintendo_DS] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, August 16 2005 @ 20:02 CET]
Nintendo is announcing new pricing for the Nintendo DS of $129.99 MSRP, effective Aug. 21, in advance of the arrival of a critically acclaimed title for the dual-screened, hand-held video game system. The $20 price drop comes just ahead of the Aug. 22 U.S. launch of NintendogsTM, which has become a cultural phenomenon and a sales leader in Japan because of its innovative appeal.

Nintendogs is a puppy simulator made exclusively for Nintendo DS that lets owners name, train and play with a realistic puppy. The pups respond to their owners' voices with the built-in microphone, and react to praise and positive reinforcement via the Nintendo DS' touch screen. The sophisticated artificial intelligence simulates a real dog in every way. Nintendogs players pick from 18 breeds, then owners feed their pups, buy them new toys and take them for walks as they bond.

In addition to Nintendogs, Nintendo DS has a strong lineup of games arriving before the end of the year. These include Advance Wars®: Dual Strike on Aug. 22, Trace MemoryTM on Sept. 26, Metroid® Prime Pinball on Oct. 24 and Mario & Luigi 2TM in Q4. The new price for Nintendo DS also gives consumers another excuse to buy a Nintendo DS to be ready for the upcoming Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection, the wireless gaming service to launch later this year with a Mario Kart® racing game and an Animal Crossing® community-building game.

The Next Generation Of Console Gaming Starts In Amsterdam At X05
  [Category : General_News] [Posted by Bjorn on Saturday, August 13 2005 @ 10:22 CET]
Today Microsoft lifted the shroud of mystery surrounding the location for X05 and confirmed that Amsterdam will be the city to host this years X0 event. Often referred to as one of the most colourful and vibrant cities in the world, Amsterdam's sophisticated culture and modern mentality make it the perfect home for this year's Xbox® invite-only brand experience for the games and entertainment industry.

A highlight of the gaming calendar, Xbox enjoys this opportunity to bring together gamers from around the world and create a unique and immersive experience for their guests. X05 will be held on October 4th and 5th this year and will offer global industry leaders the chance to fully experience Xbox 360; including the first opportunity to play next generation games.

As previous events have shown, location is a key part of the X0 mix. X01 was memorably held in Pierre Cardin's Bubble House in Cannes, whilst La Isla Magica (Seville) was the theme-park location of X02 and X03 saw guests at an exclusive beach club location in Juan-les-Pins.

Chris Lewis, regional vice president, Xbox, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), said: "We put a great deal of thought into determining the location for X05. We have a lot of exciting announcements to make this year and it was essential that we make them in the right place. To tell you our rational for choosing Amsterdam would reveal some of our plans and we want to keep those as secret as possible! Suffice to say that after X05 it will be clear that the next generation starts with Xbox.

XBOX360 release end of October??
  [Category : X_Box_360] [Posted by Bjorn on Friday, August 12 2005 @ 9:06 CET]
Well it's not certain yet but after looking through some release lists from publishers we noticed that Atari's launch titles for the XBOX360 are planned for 26 October.

Does that mean that the XBOX360 could be out then, just in time for those launch titels?

Since Microsoft hasn't announced anything officialy yet, we are speculating about its price and release date but if those release dates from Atari are right, then the XBOX360 should be here faster then we think.

The new next-gen console could be released 3rd week of October or later in November.
We'll keep you posted on this matter as soon as we receive some more info.

Electronic Arts, the world's leading interactive entertainment software company, announces Wayne Rooney and Ronaldinho as cover stars for EA SPORTS' FIFA 06, due for release this autumn.

Wayne Rooney, current PFA Young Player of the Year, is one of the most exciting young football stars ever, having scored his first Premiership goal at 16. Ronaldinho, FIFA World Player of the Year in 2004, was also noticed for his football wizardry at a very young age. At 19 he was part of the Brazil's 1999 Copa America winning team, and now 25, he has gone on to captain the Brazilian team and is also a star player for FC Barcelona.

For Rooney and Ronaldinho this is an exciting extension of previous collaborations with EA. Rooney has already worked on EA's FIFA 05 in the UK while Ronaldinho appeared on the packs of FIFA Street and FIFA Football 04. Both players have been valuable consultants in the development of the game. Under the new agreement Rooney and Ronaldinho will now both become global celebrity endorsers and appear on merchandising and advertising for FIFA 06.
