LucasArts and TT Games today announced that LEGO® Indiana Jones®: The Videogame [working title] will whip onto game consoles everywhere in summer 2008.
Developed by the same team at Traveller's Tales that created the LEGO Star Wars™ series, LEGO Indiana Jones presents a tongue-in-cheek take on the first three cinematic adventures of pop culture's most iconic archaeologist, including Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
"LucasArts and TT Games are setting the bar for next-generation family entertainment with the LEGO Star Wars franchise, and our incredible relationship continues with LEGO Indiana Jones," said Jim Ward, president of LucasArts. "In addition to providing the quality bonding time inspired by any good family game, LEGO Indiana Jones delivers something a little different for everyone. Parents will enjoy the humorous take on some of their favorite movies, and their kids get some rousing action/adventure gameplay that may also introduce them to Indy's original adventures for the first time."
"It has been a real joy to work with LucasArts on the LEGO Star Wars games. Indiana Jones is the perfect character for the next LEGO-based videogame adventure," said Tom Stone, director at TT Games. "Indy also presents us with wonderful and memorable cinematic moments. The boulder scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark in LEGO is hilarious!"
Lucasfilm Ltd. recently announced that the LEGO Group will begin releasing LEGO Indiana Jones playsets in January 2008. Meanwhile, LucasArts remains hard at work on its revolutionary, internally developed Indiana Jones videogame, which takes place a year after The Last Crusade in an original story overseen by George Lucas.

Super Paper Mario available in September on EURO Wii !

With the power to flip between 2D and 3D, Mario must embark on a thrilling adventure to reunite his lost friends and save the world. Super Paper Mario launches across Europe for Wii on 14th September 2007.
As with the previous two games in the Paper Mario series, all characters are as flat as a sheet of paper. However, our hero Mario can manipulate the environment around him to his benefit, opening up new paths and possibilities with the ability to ‘flip’ from 2D to 3D at will. This ability comes in handy throughout the game and is crucial to the progress of the player in his rescue mission. Seemingly impassable barriers are only as thin as a piece of paper when viewed in 3D allowing our hero to walk past with ease and fearsome 2D enemies expose their weak spots in 3D.
The adventure begins when the mysterious Count Bleck, a mad genius who is determined to fulfil an ancient prophecy, kidnaps Princess Peach, Bowser and Luigi. Bleck forces Peach to marry Bowser so that he can unite good and evil and create a Chaos Heart that will destroy the universe. Only Mario escapes his clutches and now it is up to him to rescue his friends from the evil Count and save the world!
Players start out controlling Mario, but later on can unlock and control Princess Peach, Bowser and Luigi as well. Each character has their own unique ability allowing them to overcome different puzzles and obstacles. Also lending a helping hand are small sidekicks called Pixls, which Mario will encounter during his journey. Each of these Pixls has a different ability, which can be used to aid the player on their journey. These range from Tippi, who will give information on enemies and items pointed at with the Wii Remote, Carrie who will lift Mario over impassable gaps, and Dottie who can shrink a character to miniscule proportions.
The majority of on-screen action is controlled simply by holding the Wii Remote sideways using only the Control Pad and two buttons. However, the motion sensing abilities of the Wii Remote also add a dynamic edge to the gameplay. Unique special moves and abilities can be activated by shaking and moving the controller; so that players can not only set up chains and earn bonus points when defeating enemies, but also use abilities like fire, thunder and ice attacks.
Super Paper Mario mixes the role-playing game-style adventure of its predecessors with the platform action of classic Mario games from yesteryear, bringing players a deep, entertaining quest that is truly the best of both worlds.
So make sure your platform gaming skills are honed as Super Paper Mario bends, twists and flips its way into stores. Super Paper Mario launches across Europe for Wii on 14th September 2007 at an estimated retail price of around £35.

Colin McRae: DIRT coming to PS3 in September
 [Category :
] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, July 31 2007 @ 17:53 CET]
Colin McRae: DIRT™ will launch this September for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, Codemasters announced today. Thanks to a spectacular damage system, gamers will experience the game's high impact moments through detailed visuals, force feedback steering wheel functionality and a top-spec audio system exclusive to the format.
Colin McRae: DIRT takes traditional rally and turns it into an exhilarating thrill ride through a massive range of off-road racing experiences on gravel, mud and dirt, right across the globe. In any mode, on any surface, the car handling is sublime, the physics system thrillingly accurate and the damage effects are devastating.
Driving Colin McRae: DIRT's damage system is Codemasters' proprietary engine, Neon. Delivering the most detailed vehicle and environment damage effects, the soft body damage system replicates perfect deformation on any vehicle from any impact – from a paint scrape to a roof crumpling to the roll cage. Entire wheel and spring tyre sections can rip off spoilers and bumpers can snap into separate pieces.
Each individual car is modelled to a fine degree of accuracy, with car specific weak points and strengths, ensuring that they will break, bend, warp and disintegrate realistically and in fantastic detail.
The engine also provides for a totally destructible environment thanks to dynamic physics on track objects. Crash into a wall at speed and it will smash into its individual bricks and stones, branches will snap off trees and go flying onto your opponent's windscreen and signposts and other roadside objects can be knocked flying from the force of an impact.
For racers who to want feel the force of an impact, Colin McRae: DIRT supports a range of force feedback steering wheels. Every bump in the road, every loose rock and every inch of shifting gravel is represented by subtle vibrations and resistance forces as your vehicle's tyres interact with the track surface. All effects are dictated by the game's physics and, when a vehicle collides with rough ground or another car, the resulting forces make for a grip wrenching experience.
Colin McRae: DIRT will also be compatible with many wheels originally purchased for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system gaming. Wheels are fully configurable from action assignments to steering linearity, dead zones and saturation. Players will also hear the impact thanks to an advanced audio system. On the PLAYSTATION 3 system, one 3.2 GHz SPU vector co-processor is dedicated to audio and delivers 7.1 and 5.1 surround sound.
Colin McRae: DIRT is coming this September for the PLAYSTATION 3 system.

Ubisoft announces Beowulf video game

] [Posted by Bjorn on Friday, July 27 2007 @ 12:03 CET]
Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s leading video game publishers, announced that Beowulf™, an action combat video game based on Paramount Pictures’ and Shangri-La Entertainment’s Beowulf, the upcoming feature film from Academy Award®-winning director Robert Zemeckis, is currently in development for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and Windows® PC.
The Beowulf™ video game is being developed by the award-winning team that created the original Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter® in Ubisoft’s Tiwak studio. The Beowulf™ video game is scheduled for worldwide release in conjunction with the film’s opening in November 2007.
The Beowulf™ video game takes players deep into groundbreaking director Robert Zemeckis’ vision of the classic saga, Beowulf. Gamers live the life of Beowulf, the legendary Norse warrior with the strength of 30 men who is torn between the nobility and brutality within him. Arrogant, self-serving and lustful for gold and glory, Beowulf will journey to Denmark to destroy a bloodthirsty beast wreaking havoc on a frigid land. But evil persists, and Beowulf succumbs to its lure of even greater fame, quietly maneuvering to claim the Danish throne. As King, Beowulf must face the consequences of ambition, even as war descends on the realm. As Beowulf, players lead their men, called thanes, into battle, slay the Titans of a dying age and crush the enemies that threaten to annihilate both their kingdom and people. Only then, when Beowulf looks Destiny in the eye, will he know what kind of hero he has truly become.
“Ubisoft, Paramount Pictures and Shangri-La Entertainment have been working extremely close in developing Beowulf,” said Gilles Matouba, creative director at Ubisoft. “From the very beginning, we have had an unprecedented level of access to information and assets from the movie. This access, coupled with the creative and technological abilities of our team, has allowed us to capture aspects of the film and translate them perfectly into compelling gameplay elements such as the visceral hand-to-hand combat, dynamic swordplay and amazing visuals, while giving us the creative liberty to go even further by creating exclusive content for the game that is unexplored by the film and even the classic tale.”

Sink Kirby into the hole to advance to the next stage and clear all 8 courses – 64 holes in all.
Devil's Crush (TurboGrafx16, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone – Animated Blood, Mild Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): Devil's Crush is the exciting sequel to the hit pinball game Alien Crush and features even smoother ball movement and enhanced special effects. Shoot the ball onto the board with the Devil Shooter, then use flippers and nudging to keep it in play and rack up a high score. Complete certain conditions to play up to six different bonus stages. Get a "Perfect Clear" on those to earn a huge amount of points. The game's ominous theme is enhanced by its enemies: wandering skeleton knights, sorcerers and even a giant face that changes from a goddess to a sinister serpent.
Shining Force™ (Sega Genesis, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): In ages long forgotten, Light fought Darkness for control of the world. Finally, the Ancients defeated the evil ruler of the dark forces known as Dark Dragon and cast him into another dimension, though he vowed to return in 1,000 years. As time passed, all memory of Dark Dragon was buried, and the land of Rune enjoyed 10 centuries of peace. Yet, as promised, the dark ruler returned, along with hordes of evil creatures that ravaged the land. As chaos erupted, several strongholds of Good still held out, awaiting a hero who could wield the Powers of Light.

After first appearing on Blu-ray earlier this year, HD DVD owners can now also enjoy the classic arcade game Dragon’s Lair in full high definition. Making his HD DVD debut this August, Dirk the Daring swings in to action on the Xbox 360* with HD DVD add-on drive and standalone HD DVD movie players.

Sacred 2: Fallen Angel announced
 [Category :

SACRED 2 – Fallen Angel is the highly anticipated sequel to SACRED; one of the most successful action RPGs ever created.
SACRED 2 is a purely action-based role-playing game, featuring six diverse and in-depth characters, each with their own distinct gameplay style. SACRED 2 will offer the player two different campaigns; one in the Light, the other in Shadow. The chosen path will influence the reception of the player in different environments; a city which welcomed a good character is likely to be hostile towards an evil one.
Learn stunning fighting techniques and sophisticated spells. Collect a huge variety of weapons and objects and enhance the character's attributes to create a unique, personalised hero.
A Hero's Decision Affects the Lives of Many
It is time to choose your destiny, whether to champion the cause of good or to delve into the twisted paths of evil.
The setting is nearly 2,000 years prior to the events of SACRED. The player assumes the role of one of six characters and enters into a story of quests and secrets, magic and sorcery, power and honour.
At the heart of the world of SACRED is the T-energy. For a long time it was the angelic Seraphim who watched over the T Energy, and therefore over the fate of the entire world. They passed their knowledge on to the civilised High Elves, so that they could benefit from the richness of T-Energy. The realm of the High Elves bloomed in prosperity, cementing it as the reigning culture in Ancaria.
As comes with all power, the snakes of deceit and unrest reared their hands and bared their fangs. The enormity of the energy was not something which the children of Ancaria had been taught to handle. And so it was that the tendrils of fear and loathing began to take apart that which the High Elves had built…
The player must choose their path wisely, as both Light and Shadow campaigns weave alternative journeys across the world of SACRED 2, where the unwary traveller may be aided or attacked by the various inhabitants in the vast land of Ancaria.
Dryad or Seraphim, High Elf or Inquisitor, Temple Guardian or Shadow Warrior, you must now take up your steel, recite your spells and prepare yourself for the harrowing conflict ahead. For good or ill, the gods are watching as a new dawn approaches.

Now under the "Latest reviews" on our "Review" page the first reviews you'll find are for :
- Xbox 360
- Wii
- PlayStation 3
then the two portable consoles that we cover which are :
- DS
- PSP
with a section for
- PC
and last but not least the old-gen consoles :
- Xbox
- Gamecube
Of course we might even further tweak it a bit. We doubt that we'll make any new Xbox/GC reviews since there are hardly (if none) any new games coming out for these systems.

Microsoft Corp. today announced that Don Mattrick, a former president at Electronic Arts Inc. (EA), will lead the Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), which includes overseeing the Xbox® and Games for Windows® businesses.
Peter Moore, who currently serves as corporate vice president of IEB, has decided to move his family back to the Bay Area for personal reasons and has secured another opportunity in the video games industry.
Mattrick will take over as the senior vice president of IEB at Microsoft, effective July 30. Mattrick was the founder of Distinctive Software Inc., which operated as a private company from 1982 until its merger with EA in 1991. Mattrick held various senior positions within EA, most recently as president of Worldwide Studios, until his resignation in February 2006. In February 2007, Mattrick began working with the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft as an external advisor.
“Peter has contributed enormously to the games business since joining Microsoft in 2003 and we are sad to see him go,” said Robbie Bach, president of Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. “Since that time, he presided over the global launch of the Xbox 360™, spearheaded a revitalized and rebranded Games for Windows business, and helped steer the console’s ascent.”
Moore has decided to return with his family to Northern California, where they lived until he took the position at Microsoft. Moore will remain at Microsoft to assist in the transition through August and will then return to the San Francisco Bay area.
“While Peter will certainly be missed, we are delighted to have one of the industry’s most talented and passionate veterans on board to lead the business,” Bach said. “Don is well-known and respected throughout the industry for his deep knowledge, technical expertise and management savvy. Under Don’s leadership, the games team is looking forward to embarking on our biggest holiday ever, with a wide-ranging roster of some of the most highly anticipated titles.”
Mattrick brings 23 years of games industry and development experience to the strong Microsoft management team, having helped bring to life such celebrated game franchises as the “Need for Speed,” “Harry Potter” and “The Sims” while at EA.
“Over the past two decades, and the past few months in particular, I’ve worked closely with many of Microsoft’s top leaders and I’ve always been impressed by their talent, passion and commitment,” said Mattrick. “I’m thrilled to join an already strong team that’s delivering truly amazing gaming experiences to customers around the world. I’ve never been more excited about the future of the industry, and firmly believe Microsoft will lead the next great innovations in gaming.”

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:
Paper Mario® (Nintendo® 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): Paper Mario is a graphically innovative game that breaks from the confines of the RPG genre. Now slimmed down, everyone's favorite plumber flips, spins, jumps and hammers his way through scads of exotic worlds that teem with a huge and hugely entertaining supporting cast. Players control numerous old and new characters in a complex, nonlinear story that follows different scenarios depending on player choices. A dizzying collection of spells, attacks, skills and special items can be collected by players willing to thoroughly explore the lush 3-D environments.
Balloon Fight® (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Control a character to pop your opponents' balloons before they pop yours. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Don't be fooled by this game's simple premise or cute exterior. Underneath you'll find a surprisingly addictive game with strategy to spare. After mastering the easy-to-learn controls, you still have to get a grip on the game's impressively realistic physics. And if that's not enough, there are the ever-increasing enemies and environmental hazards like lightning and water. Try the game's second mode, Balloon Trip, if you feel like taking a break from the action and just want to see how long you can stay aloft. And hey, who doesn't like popping balloons sometimes?
Silent Debuggers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone—Fantasy Violence, 600 Wii Points): Make your way through a dungeon-like space station and defeat the prowling monsters in this real-time first-person shooter. You're a member of the elite Debuggers, a group of warriors who are jacks-of-all-trades. Assigned to inspect an unmanned space station, you have exactly 100 minutes to get in, destroy the monsters lurking in each block, make your way to the lowest level and deactivate the automatic detonator placed there. With each monster that slips by you, the core block becomes harder to survive in, so speed is key in preserving the facility and each separate block. Experience the thrill of survival as the timer ticks away and you uncover the truth of the events that occurred.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has entered the next stage of its Metal Gear Solid® 4: Guns of the Patriots campaign, with the launch of a new trailer for Hideo Kojima’s first PLAYSTATION®3 entry to the legendary stealth action series.
Due for a simultaneous worldwide release early in 2008, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is set in a war-torn future where huge conglomerates fight for supremacy using armies of hand-picked mercenaries. This battle-scarred arena is seen through the eyes of an older Solid Snake who has been charged with infiltrating a number of key locations across the globe, including the Middle East and South America.
The new trailer features all new real-time footage from the PLAYSTATION®3 game and serves to whet players’ appetites with new revelations and glimpses of what the final game will contain. The new footage also showcases the return of popular characters from the Metal Gear Solid universe, including Meryl Silverburgh and Raiden – and confirms the return of iconic Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty adversary, Vamp.
The returning characters will again be voiced by the actors that have made them famous, with David Hayter breathing life into Old Snake, from an original script by series creator Hideo Kojima. Similarly, Paul Eiding returns as Roy Campbell, Quinton Flynn as Raiden, and Phil LaMarr and Pat Zimmerman as Vamp and Liquid Ocelot. The voice recording sequences have been directed by Kris Zimmerman.
“After several months under the radar, Kojoma Productions have broken cover to blow gamers away with its latest Metal Gear Solid 4 revelations,” commented Hans-Joachim Amann, Head of European Product Management from Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “The new trailer shows just how advanced the game is, and the sheer realism and genius we have come to expect from the Metal Gear Solid team. The new trailer is certain to whet the appetites of fans everywhere – and will reaffirm Guns of Patriots as the most anticipated title of the coming year.”

EA announced today that the first Wii trivia game will be available this holiday. The Wii trivia game levels the playing field for friends and family, combining age-targeted trivia with action-based gestures, making it a truly trans-generational game for the Wii.
“Our Wii family trivia game is a perfect addition to EA’s recently formed Casual Games label,” said Kathy Vrabeck, President, EA Casual Entertainment. “Part of our charter is to offer entertaining and stimulating games for the whole family. The prospect of kids being able to play with friends and parents on a level playing field is exciting.”
“The gesture-based answer methods are a perfect match for the Wii,” said Daniel Hagerty, Producer at EALA. “The experience isn’t just about who can press a button the fastest, it’s about getting the whole family up off the couch to get their minds and their bodies engaged.”
The EA Casual trivia game for the Wii tailors questions to the contestant’s age, allowing friends and family members ages eight to eighty to play simultaneously. The game tracks every player’s answers, and adjusts the difficulty level to provide continuous stimulation and challenge.
Exciting Wii gestures make everything a game, from spinning the category wheel and tug-of-wars over correct answers, to “dance-offs” for additional points. The game also features a family mode, where everyone tries to beat the clock and a rapid-fire competitive mode for groups of friends. With both competitive and collaborative game modes and 20,000 questions in multiple categories, the replay-ability and fun will be virtually endless.
The game is being produced at EA Los Angeles and developed in conjunction with Planet Moon Studios and will be available this holiday for the Wii. The game has not yet been rated by PEGI. More detailed information and the final name announcement will be forthcoming.

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH will terrify a new generation of video game fans as its seminal horror series Silent Hill heads to PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360.
Silent Hill V (Provisional Title) marks the first appearance of the acclaimed series for Next Generation systems. The game follows Alex Shepherd, a war veteran returning home from an overseas tour of duty. Alex has taken compassionate leave following the news that his younger brother, Joshua, has gone missing. Initial investigations lead Alex to the small, insular community of Shepherd’s Glen, before he finds himself in the mist-shrouded and seemingly empty streets of Silent Hill…
Maximising the use of the PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360’s high definition capabilities, Silent Hill V draws the players into an incredibly realised world of shadowy terror, while the unfolding story sheds new light on the inherent evil of the eponymous town. Building upon the series’ trademark foundations of atmosphere, adventure and storytelling, Silent Hill V introduces players to a frightening new experience and more control than ever over its central character.
When confronted by the perverse incarnations of evil that roam both Silent Hill and Shepherd’s Glen, players can now access an enhanced combat system to execute a number of offensive and defensive moves to counter the eclectic collection of nightmarish creatures that dwell within the town. The series’ famed puzzles have also been enhanced, with players using cues from the environment to unlock Silent Hill’s darkest secrets. And as the claustrophobia and unsettling sense of horror develops, Silent Hill V turns the screw even further with the addition of an all-new soundtrack from famed composer Akira Yamaoka…
“Silent Hill V is an international, cross-cultural production, with leading development talent from around the globe collaborating to raise the bar even higher for this incredible series,” said Brian Christian, Vice President of Product Development at Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “With gritty graphics and sound combining to create a haunting atmosphere and all-new visceral gameplay elements, Silent Hill V shows the level to which next-generation hardware can enhance the player’s overall gaming experience.”
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Official !

] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, July 12 2007 @ 15:17 CET]
GSC Game World announces S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky for PC, the official prequel to the most atmospheric game of 2007*– Survival FPS S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl.
The story of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011.
A group of stalkers has for the first time reached the very heart of the Zone – Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, and brings about a cataclysm on the brink of a catastrophe. An immense blowout of anomalous energy changes the Zone. There are no more reliable and relatively safe roads. The entire levels vanish in the outbursts of anomalies. Stalkers and even expeditions die or end up sealed on the lost territories. New areas, which remained unknown since the time of the Zone emergence, appear on the Zone map. The Zone continues to shake with blowouts. The Zone is unstable. The anomalous activity is at its maximum.
Changes of the Zone map known to stalkers shake the fragile balance of forces in the Zone. Among the groupings, there flare up hostilities for the new territories, artifact fields and spheres of influence. There are no more old enemies or friends – now everyone is for himself. The Factions War has started between the groupings.
The protagonist is a mercenary who appeared at the edge of the opposition between stalker factions, Strelok and even the Zone itself. The main character will have to play the key role in the events, which led to creation of the Zone up to the point from which the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game begins.
What’s waiting for stalkers in the opened depths of the Zone? Which new challenges bear in the new territories? Why blowouts continue shaking the Zone? Why did the Zone change? How to remove its instability? Which faction will take the upper hand in the factions war? Why did Strelok end up in the death truck? What happened to Strelok prior to that? Was there any other choice to make? These and many other questions will get answered in the official prequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky.
Experienced stalkers and newbies! Get ready for the new challenges in the exclusion zone in Q1 2008.
