GMX announces Seal Of Evil
[Category : PC] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, July 22 2004 @ 16:40 CET]
GMX Media has today announced that it has secured the publishing rights to the RPG title “Seal Of Evil.”

"Seal of Evil is a beautiful and fascinating RPG title, which we are sure will do very well when released," commented COO for GMX Media, Eugene Perry.

“We are delighted to be joining with GMX again for the release of Seal of Evil, the Prequel to Prince of Qin,” said Richard Wallis CEO of Object Software. “Whereas Prince of Qin had a purely historical setting, Seal of Evil combines ancient Chinese history some 2000 years ago with Chinese legend. This combination together with improved graphics and strong Prince of Qin style game play should give gamers many hours of excitement and fun.”

Game Description
The Seal of Evil story is set in the twilight years of the Warring States period of Chinese history (476 – 206 BC). This turbulent time marks the disintegration of the longest lived of all imperial dynasties, the Zhou. Out of the strife and chaos emerges a nobleman possessed of an indomitable spirit and an uncompromising vision of the future: Ying Zheng, ruler of the Qin state. He will stop at nothing to reunite the disparate Chinese kingdoms. Combining ancient legends and mythic storytelling with historical fact, Seal of Evil sets the stage for an epic adventure wherein the players struggle to thwart the Qin invasion of their peaceful homeland, East Baiyue. Ferocious beasts, merciless enemy soldiers, wicked bandits, and terrifying supernatural foes are hazards they must face in order to achieve this goal. There is still hope for them, however, for along the way they will also make many friends and acquire powerful weapons and equipment. And armed with mighty elemental magic, they may yet come face to face with the very Gods themselves…

Through the judicious use of elemental magic, a character can improve attributes, skills, equipment, weapons, create magic items, and even solve puzzles in the game. The Five Elements system makes Seal of Evil a dynamic and surprising game.

[Category : (default)] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, July 22 2004 @ 16:37 CET]
Sherlock Holmes fans are in for a double treat this August as Digital Jesters reveals it has secured a full-length Sherlock Holmes DVD movie to accompany every copy of its forthcoming PC CD-ROM escapade Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Silver Earring. The special double pack – comprising the game and a copy of Sherlock Holmes and the Secret Weapon – goes on sale on August 27th 2004, priced £29.99.

In The Silver Earring, Holmes embarks on an original Sherlock adventure which sees the world's greatest detective attempting to solve a hideous murder. As the game progresses, the narrative twists and turns through to the final, shattering conclusion in an adventure game which requires as much logical deduction as puzzle-solving.

Super sleuth Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and his trusty assistant Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) are assigned to find the kidnapped scientist who developed the secret weapon, only to be foiled by Holmes' nemesis, the evil Professor Moriarty (Lionel Atwill). Based on the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle story The Adventure of the Dancing Men, this Holmes case transplants the Victorian sleuth into the realm of WWII espionage and is also the first of the films to introduce Dennis Hoey as Scotland Yard detective Inspector Lestrade.

GameSpot reported that, from an Activision conference, more sequels of games/movies are in production such as Call Of Duty 2, Spider Man 3, True Crime 2 and more.
Here's a bit:
For fiscal year 2006 (April 2005 to March 2006), Doornik said Activision will release "sequels to True Crime, Call of Duty, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Shrek, and Quake." Doornik did not mention what platforms these sequels would appear on, sparking speculation that the titles could be released on next-generation consoles. However, Doornik only obliquely mentioned that Activision will be "committed at launch to next-generation consoles."

Paramount Pictures delivers wireless phone game
[Category : (default)] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, July 13 2004 @ 16:51 CET]
Wireless gamers across the country can now portray the lead character of Paramount Picture’s "The Manchurian Candidate,” Ben Marco, in the new “The Manchurian Candidate” Voice Recognition game, presented by Paramount Pictures and featuring prizes provided by Kyocera Wireless. The game gives players a taste of this highly anticipated psychological thriller before it hits theaters July 30.

Portrayed in the movie by two time Oscar(r) winner Denzel Washington, decorated Major Ben Marco’s world is becoming a living nightmare. Is he crazy? Are his nightmares real, or is everyone else out to get him? Fans will get hidden insights through their telephones in this world of brainwashing, conspiracies and political intrigue when the game finds them each day and they help Marco find his way through the psychological mysteries.

Beginning today, contestants can register at www.manchuriangame.com, the official movie web site, www.ManchuricanCandidateMovie.com, or at Kyocera’s www.SliderStyle.com for a chance to win an exclusive screening of the new movie in their hometown or a Kyocera Slider SE47 wireless phone. The game begins July 7 and will conclude July 28. All players will be entered into a sweepstakes for the Grand Prize of a special screening of “Manchurian Candidate” and a Kyocera Slider SE47 phone. Additionally, another 50 entrants will receive their own Kyocera Slider SE47.

During a pre-determined time period each day, players will help Ben Marco and other characters in the movie in their quest to gain information about his unit’s mysterious experience during Desert Storm. Players prompt characters’ next moves with their own voices; a wise choice moves players ahead in the game, a poor choice puts them on the “Danger” path, and two poor choices eliminates the player from the game. Contestants are able to restart the game play by returning to www.ManchurianGame.com.

“‘The Manchurian Candidate’ is one of the most anticipated movies of the summer,” said Gerry Rich, president worldwide marketing, Paramount Pictures. “This Voice Recognition game will provide moviegoers with an exciting and entertaining early look into its story and characters.”

“This is a fun, easy-to-play game that will get people excited about the movie through a device they’re quite attached to – their mobile phones,” said Don McGuire, VP of global marketing, Kyocera Wireless Corp. “Mobile phones have become such a large part of people’s lives that it’s a natural connection to involve them in movie marketing. We’re thrilled to be a part of what’s sure to be one of the summer’s biggest hits.”

Academy Award winners Denzel Washington and Meryl Streep, along with Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Liev Schreiber, mesmerize a whole new generation of audiences in Academy Award winner Jonathan Demme’s “The Manchurian Candidate.” Set against the backdrop of a heated presidential election, this timely and prescient psychological thriller follows one man’s battle to preserve our democratic process from the threat of a subversive conglomerate.

The game, written by “The Manchurian Candidate” co-screenwriter Dan Pyne, puts players in the plot of the movie with story messages (no spoilers!) and audio pulled directly from the film. Players can then choose from a number of options to advise the movie character or ask for a clue.

The game is broken up into two levels. Those players who’ve made the right decisions throughout Level 1 progress onto Level 2, where the scenarios, missions and decisions become even more intense and challenging. Level 1 includes calls from various characters in the film such as FBI Special Agent Goldring, who’s after Marco and may be part of the conspiracy; Colonel Garrett, who’s suspicious of Marco’s stories; and Raymond Shaw, a member of Marco’s Army unit and VP candidate; and many others. Level 2 is exclusively with Al Melvin from Marco’s Desert Storm unit, and Delp, who may be Marco’s only hope.
