In-depth review of Mercenaries online!

Bloody fun game! Oops excuse my language but we have just posted our in-depth review of Pandemic's war game, "Mercenaries".
It's about hijaaking, destroying and blowing things up. Quite amusing.
Here's a snip from the long review:
In Mercenaries, you have the opportunity to either capture or kill every single card (terrorist), but in the end ... capturing them is a lot thougher then you would think. More money is given if you bring your card back alive. The 52 'cards' are hidden throughout the entire huge area of play but you won't find them quick. Clues and information is only given to you when you complete a contract (mission) for various fractions.
You can read the full review right here.

SNK's King of Fighters '02 and '03 Announced Across Europe
 [Category :
] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, April 26 2005 @ 22:20 CET]
Since its inception in 1994, the King of Fighters series has continually fought for and won a position of prominence in the bursting ranks of the fighting game genre. Widely regarded as the definitive iteration, King of Fighters '02 and its younger brother, King of Fighters '03 have today been announced by Ignition Entertainment for release on Xbox and PS2 across Europe. KOF '02 will be available in Jun '05, and KOF '03 in Sep '05. Xbox owners with broadband connections will also be able to enjoy versus play across Xbox Live.
With an enormous roster of finely balanced characters to choose from (39 initially selectable, six secret unlockable), King of Fighters '02 continues SNK's fine tradition of providing a wealth of playing styles within one game. Considered to this day as the finest in the series, and still played widely in Japan's highly knowledgeable and notoriously fickle arcade scene, the pixel-perfect home console version also offers a variety of game modes that allow players to fight in almost any fashion they desire. Extensive practise mode options are also present for the truly dedicated.
King of Fighters '03 offers a markedly different, but no less thrilling battle system. With the option to tag fighters in and out mid-battle (and even mid-combo), and many fighters being given even more tactical options, '03 is considered to be the most bombastic iteration in SNK's iconic series. The new Tactical Leader System presents a further layer of depth, and a new storyline also introduces evil versions of some of the most favourite characters. The hand-drawn backgrounds have been replaced with beautifully rendered 3D backdrops, and several popular pugilists have snuck in from other titles in the SNK stable.
The King of Fighters '02 will be available in June '05, and The King of Fighters '03 will be available in September '05, both for PS2 and Xbox.

Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith fact sheet
 [Category :
] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, April 25 2005 @ 13:37 CET]
Fans and gamers can experience the stunning Jedi action of the upcoming movie Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith on May 5, 2005 when LucasArts releases the companion video game in advance of the movie's opening on May 19th.
The Star Wars: Episode III video game features third-person character action gameplay built to deliver the ultimate Jedi action experience as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi join forces in fierce battles and heroic lightsaber duels, until one's lust for power and the other's devotion to duty lead to a final confrontation between good and evil.
Closely following—and in some cases going beyond—key story elements of the upcoming film, the Star Wars: Episode III video game allows players to indulge themselves in the Star Wars universe in a way only the gaming medium can offer. All of the Jedi abilities of both Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi are available, including devastating Force powers and advanced lightsaber techniques involving robust combo attacks and defensive maneuvers. With ease, players can perform a wide range of amazing combination attacks in all directions, including the skill of blocking or deflecting ranged weapon attacks, plus the ability to use lightsabers to cut through doors and interact with a variety of other destructible objects unique to each world. Use the Force to lift or throw objects, push, pull, throw or confuse enemies and even to attack using interactive elements found in the environment.
As Obi-Wan, players wield a powerful lightsaber as they struggle to save the galaxy from darkness by using the Force to control enemy actions and focusing the power of the light side into swift and precise lightsaber attacks. As Anakin, players will amplify the future Darth Vader's Jedi skills and lightsaber techniques by giving in to the dark side of the Force. Using dark side powers, players can attack with devastating shockwaves, crush and burn enemies, overpower hordes of enemies in epic battles, and defeat even the most skilled Jedi Masters in one-on-one duels.
Working closely with famed Star Wars stunt coordinator Nick Gillard, the development team is creating the most authentic lightsaber combat ever, with choreography taken directly from the films as well as many new stunts created exclusively for the game under the auspices of Gillard. The game takes place in never-before-seen locations like Utapau and Mustafar, giving fans a sneak peek into the highly anticipated Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith film releasing worldwide on May 19, 2005.
Get ready for Star Wars: Battlefront II
 [Category :
] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, April 25 2005 @ 13:36 CET]
Amid tens of thousands of Star Wars® fans gathered at the Indiana Convention Center for the four-day Star Wars party of a lifetime, LucasArts revealed Star Wars Battlefront II at Star Wars Celebration III.
Set for a Fall 2005 release on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and Windows platforms, Star Wars Battlefront II takes the best-selling Star Wars video game of all time one Imperial-walker step forward with all-new space combat, playable Jedi, and never-before-seen environments straight out of the Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith film. Fans of the original Star Wars Battlefront will also enjoy an all-new single-player experience that takes players through an epic, story-based saga where every action the player takes impacts the Battlefront and, ultimately, the fate of the Star Wars galaxy. Critically acclaimed Pandemic Studios is once again developing the game for LucasArts.
Star Wars Battlefront II improves upon the original game's single-player experience with open-ended, mission-based objectives inspired from all six Star Wars films. The compelling storyline spans more than 12 new locations, many from Episode III, including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. All-new classic movie moments complete the Star Wars Battlefront II experience, as players battle within the interior of the Death Star and visit Princess Leia's blockade runner, the Tantive IV, as seen at the beginning of Episode IV A New Hope. In addition, at certain key moments within the battles, players can feel the Force as a Jedi.
For the first time ever, Star Wars Battlefront II players can engage in space combat and, during the same battle, board enemy ships to attack from within. Starting on foot inside a capital ship, players can enter the spacecraft of their choice and travel into space to dogfight with the rival faction. From there, they can dock within the enemy's capital ship, overtake the ship's command posts, man its turrets to disable its shields and destroy it from within! Or, they can simply stay inside their own capital ship and defend it from attacks and enemy fire. The choice is theirs.
The stellar online play that marked the original Star Wars Battlefront returns even bigger and better for Star Wars Battlefront II. Players can locate their buddies and track their stats as they battle alongside more players than ever (up to 24 on PS2, 32 on Xbox, 64 on Windows).

Echoing the same curves with black and silver high-gloss finish, the system provides amplifier, bass and 3D surround sound more powerful than its compact design would suggest. It is also a docking system running on mains or batteries, recharging the console while it plays movies or music, yet still allowing the serious gamer to carry on freely via a detachable cable (£49.99 ERP including carry case).
Logic3's PSP Sound Grip is a compact high quality speaker ideally suited to gaming on the move. It is powered separately and incorporates handgrips to ensure the console won't fly out of your hands mid-battle! Sitting flush to the PSP and following its design, the casing adds virtually no extra weight and maintains easy access to buttons as well as pass through ports for audio and power connections (£19.99 ERP including carry case).
Getting started
The PSP Start Pack will get the first-time PSP owner up and running in flash with carry case, USB data cable, screen protector and cleaning pad, earphones, car charger and wrist strap. Logic3 also provides a selection of carry cases, disk protectors for treasured movies, as well as travel packs for the footloose that include retractable cables (£14.99 ERP).
Power up
Logic3 also has products that extend the PSP's power. The PSP Car Charger, portable Solar Charger and Rechargeable Battery Pack are ideal if the battery runs out and there isn't a convenient power source*.
Logic3's range of PSP accessories will be available from June 2005.

Evil Dead returns ...

THQ Inc today announced Evil Dead RegenerationTM for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Windows. The game explores a "what if..." continuation from Evil Dead 2, one of the most unhinged films from famed director Sam Raimi. Voiced by Bruce Campbell, players will control Ash, the reluctant hero of the series, as they're thrown into a masquerade of evil events, equipped with the latest in prosthetic fashion. Developed by THQ studio Cranky Pants Games, Evil Dead Regeneration is scheduled to release this summer.
"I've come to understand that there is only one person in this world fit for this kind of work," said Ash, part-time S-Mart manager, full-time fox. "And that's me. Not because of my knack to get things right, most of the time, but because I can slice and dice evil better than a knife sold on any late-night infomercial. Maybe it's partially to the fact that I've replaced one of my hands with a chainsaw, but I digress."
Evil Dead Regeneration follows Ash, the lone survivor of a camp discovering the Necronomicon - the wholly evil book of the dead. Thought to have murdered his companions, Ash is arrested, convicted of the crime, and sentenced to Sunny Meadows, an institute for the criminally insane, but not for long. Ash's peaceful stay is about to end - thanks to the perverted experiments of his very own psychiatrist, Dr. Reinhard. Hell-bent on using science to harness the Necronomicon's powers, the mad doctor unleashes the book's all-powerful Evil on the world - releasing a new slew of Deadites, monsters and spirits, twisting reality into a hellish strudel and leaving mankind with that not-so-fresh apocalyptic feeling.
"It's our goal to create the spiritual successor of Evil Dead 2, one of the seminal action films ever, in pop-culture," said David Bollesen, general manager, Cranky Pants Games. "Having Bruce Campbell on board, providing creative direction and embracing new ideas we've injected into their universe is critical, and their enthusiasm continues to drive us to deliver the ultimate Evil Dead experience."

Activision and acclaimed developer Infinity Ward are back in action with Call of Duty 2TM, an all new epic title which delivers an unparalleled portrayal of the chaos and intensity that was World War II. The sequel to the award-winning Call of DutyTM, Call of Duty 2 is powered by a proprietary new engine featuring striking new visuals, advanced A.I. technology, the most realistic squad combat and explosive action in new historic campaigns. The title is scheduled for release this Autumn and has not yet been rated.
Call of Duty 2 lets players experience four individual soldier stories as they overcome insurmountable odds in multiple campaigns. Players have the freedom to follow each of the four storylines through for the ultimate character-driven experience, or they can engage in the historic battles chronologically for quick hitting action.
Infinity Ward, creator of the blockbuster, original Call of Duty, has also expanded the scope of combat to deliver a truly realistic battlefield experience. The team has also employed a state-of-the-art Battle Chatter System that brings the action to life as squad-mates bark out context-sensitive updates in real-time to players through an advanced A.I. system.

In this new Zelda game, there are actually two different ways to play! Indeed, this option gives the game a higher replayability factor and a much better longitivity mode.
The first way to play "Four Swords" is through Hyrulean Adventure's single-player version. When doing so, you can either use the GameCube controller or play it with a GameBoy Advance and a Link cable.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend is grounded in Lara Croft's tomb raiding roots and built to challenge even the most accomplished serial adventurer.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a team of anti-piracy officials swooped on illegal traders at a Staffordshire car boot sale, leading to the removal of 20,000 fake DVDs with an estimated street value of over half a million pounds.
The manoeuvre, led by Staffordshire Police and supported by ELSPA (Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association), Staffordshire Trading Standards, FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft) and Customs and Excise, uncovered a total of 20 stalls at Himley, Wombourne selling copied games, films, music, business software, 30,000 contraband cigarettes and a quantity of Viagra tablets. Pirated copies of Doom 3, a title rated as suitable for adults only, was the most prevalent games title, while officers discovered a small amount of previously unseen fake Gamecube mini discs.
Roger Bennett, director general of ELSPA commented: "This case illustrates the way in which piracy poses a threat to members of the public, allowing titles containing unregulated adult-rated content to be sold illegally without the enforcement of our rigorous ratings system, which is strictly adhered to by legitimate retail outlets. ELSPA would like to thank all those involved for their efforts to eradicate computer and video games piracy."
Two persons from the West Midlands area have been reported for offences against the Trade Marks Act 1994. The case is currently proceeding with the offenders now facing possible prosecution.

Electronic Arts today announced plans to let gamers live out their wildest commuter fantasies this September with Burnout Revenge.
Burnout Revenge lets gamers rip through rush hour traffic and lay waste to scores of rubbernecking roadhogs in an over-the-top scene of vehicular mayhem. The game is currently in development by Criterion Games for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Xbox® video game system from Microsoft.
Burnout Revenge is the sequel to 2004's award-winning Burnout 3: Takedown, which in March this year won three BAFTA Awards, including Best Racing and Best PS2 game categories, as well as being crowned Best PS2 game at the Joystick Awards 2004.
In addition to tricked out new race, crash and road rage modes, Burnout Revenge takes the series' blistering speed and spectacular destruction to dizzying new heights with an all-new Revenge mode, challenging gamers to battle the clock and unleash their frustrations on rush hour traffic.

Konami guns for PSP with Coded Arms

Konami announces stunning first-person shooter for Sony's new handheld video game system
Konami of Europe has announced it will release Coded Arms, a breath-taking first-person shooter title, for Sony's PSPTM handheld video game system, this summer.
Already being hailed as one of the most anticipated titles for the new system, Coded Arms is a fast-paced and aesthetically stunning first-person shooter set within a hastily abandoned Virtual Reality system. The VR universe was originally conceived as a training device to prepare mankind for an alien invasion, but was hurriedly shut down when the system became self-aware and created a brutal world populated with virtual, yet hostile alien races. Cast as a hacker, the player is equipped with an array of hi-tech weaponry and must cleanse the VR world of its unsavoury denizens.
The game's virtual landscape is split into three distinct worlds and enjoys a lavish level of detail and lighting effects that show off the power of the Sony system perfectly, while eerie lighting and shadow effects add to the ever-present oppressive atmosphere. Similarly, Coded Arms' computer-devised aliens are equally impressive and range from enhanced soldiers, insect-themed species and robotic adversaries, each of which have certain vulnerabilities to specific weapons that the player can use to their advantage.
Coded Arms also ensures the player is suitably equipped for the tough task that awaits them. Over 30 different weapon systems are available, with machine guns and pulse weapons and sniper rifles allowing for blanket or precision shooting, while a variety of grenade styles also feature in the game's impressive arsenal. The game also makes use of the PSP's wireless capabilities, with up to four players invited to compete in the game's many multi-player modes. Any weapons collected by the player in the single-player mode can also be accessed during the multi-player games, further extending the longevity of this already engrossing shooter.
Coded Arms will be released for the PSPTM handheld video game system in Q3, 2005.
