A Happy 2006 !
  [Category : In_House] [Posted by Bjorn on Saturday, December 31 2005 @ 18:05 CET]
Only a few hours (at the moment of writing it's 18.02) and we'll travel into a new year, 2006.

Let's hope 2006 will be somehow better for peace, poverty and all those other problems that the world has now.

Also we hope that some excellent games will arrive in 2006 and that the PS3 and Revolution will be 'really' next-gen consoles.

So shut down your PC now, get with family, eat & drink (but don't drive) a lot and wish eachother a HAPPY 2006!

We'll see you again ... in 2006!
New website for Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory
[Category : PC] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 29 2005 @ 10:01 CET]
Fireglow announced today, that launched a brand new website www.suddenstrike.com for Sudden Strike 3: Arms for Victory, the first WWII game to be based on the new generation game engine "Sudden Strike Next 7".

The game does not stay in the borders of conventional RTS genre. We introduce some major interface and game play innovations, distinguishing it from other WWII games, and definitely from all previous Sudden Strike series games created by our company. The game simulates joint operations of all combat arms on the global scale: land forces, air forces and navy . New paradigm of user interface allows the player to control vast areas and large amount of troops conveniently, being easy to use even for a beginner player, and avoiding undesired micromanagement. The player will be free to choose different ways to play at his own discretion, this leading to signficant diversity in game situations and in ways of completion of scenario; therefore it would be interesting for some players to complete the scenarios several times.

The gameplay will include sea battles, supportted by aviation and submarines and planes hunting the enemy's caravans. The player will be able to build profound coastal defense lines. Carrier-based aviation will participate in naval battlesand support land operations. The player should control his naval and air forces carefully, as they are a clue to success in land operations. Ports will play an important role in the game, as the gates for shipment of infantry, weapons, ammunition and fuel. Land operations will cover vast territories, and therefore reconnaissance will be essential. These are the innovations which could not be seen in WWII games until now.

Release of the Sudden Strike 3:Arms for Victory" in August, 2006.

[Category : PC] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 29 2005 @ 9:56 CET]
Activision has signed a deal with the popular actor's clothing company to have clothing from his "Uncle Kimono" Collection featured as downloadable costumes for outfitting the stars in The Movies, which is currently available in retail stores nationwide.

In January, players will be able to log on to www.themoviesgame.com, go to the Prop Shop and use virtual credits earned from creating and uploading movies to the web site to purchase John Malkovich "Uncle Kimono" outfits for their stars. Malkovich says the collection "has resonance of late 1950's California beach boys, some Palm Springs Rat Pack, a touch of lounge lizards, and a recollection of a Swiss banker who's been let go." More information about Malkovich's clothing line can be found at www.johnmalkovich.org.

Launched on December 16, 2005, the Prop Shop will be updated regularly with a host of new costumes, sets, and props for players to download and use in their cinematic masterpieces. The Movies for Windows® PC allows gamers to become Hollywood players by creating unique movies and releasing them from the studios they build, starring the actors they discover and develop.
Xbox 360 Powers All-New Nissan URGE Concept Car
  [Category : X_Box_360] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 29 2005 @ 9:55 CET]
Nissan North America Inc.(NNA) and Microsoft Corp. have merged automobile design and gaming technology to create the first-ever fully integrated gaming system within a vehicle. Conceived by Nissan Design America Inc. (NDA) and equipped with the Xbox 360TM next-generation video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Nissan URGE concept car allows drivers (while parked) to play "Project Gotham Racing® 3" using the car's own steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal while viewing the game on a flip-down seven-inch LCD screen.

The URGE, which will make its world debut at the 2006 North American International Auto Show on Jan. 9, offers a glimpse of how echo boomers are influencing the next generation of vehicle design.

The Nissan URGE, outfitted with an Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, puts the controls of the world's most powerful gaming console at the hands and feet of the driver. Implemented by the designers at Nissan Design America with the guidance of Microsoft engineers, the Nissan URGE delivers an immersive driving experience not available in any living room.

The URGE concept car is equipped with the award-winning "PGR 3," which allows drivers to control a breathtaking trip through the streets of five photo-realistic locations: New York City, London, Las Vegas, Tokyo and the Nurburgring test track in Germany. "PGR 3" drivers view and play the game on a flip-down LCD screen, which doubles as a rear-view mirror when the car is being used for real driving. They control the action using the Nissan URGE's race-inspired steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal. A Nissan URGE driver can, for example, maneuver through the streets of New York, park the car and fire up the Xbox 360, then virtually race through the same streets using the same steering wheel, gas pedal and brake pedal — blurring fantasy and reality in a way that the automotive world has never before seen.

We hope you all had a nice Christmas last Saturday and since it's now already Tuesday, most of you are back sober from the Christmas Parties, we must conclude that there isn't much news from the "Gaming Industry".

Still it may be a calm day today, we're still working on some new content, just before New Years Eve.

At the moment of writing this, its approx. 18.13 CET so the party will begin soon.
Not at the office since we'll close it and everybody will go to their family and friends to party there.

Still 2005 ain't over yet so ... hopefully you get some nice goodies, perhaps that so-wanted Xbox360 or a PSP. Or perhaps a wanted game or just ... clothes and other things you don't really want.

Anyway, we're done for today and a merry Christmas from us all!

More on the upcoming Heroes of Annihilated Empires
[Category : PC] [Posted by Bjorn on Saturday, December 24 2005 @ 18:11 CET]
GSC World Publishing to announce the official genre definition of the upcoming Heroes of Annihilated Empires title and its release date

Delivering original gameplay was a dominant goal of GSC Game World team when creating the fantasy trilogy Heroes of Annihilated Empites. According to the Project Lead Yevgen Grygorovych, the team behind "Heroes" shunned the traditional path of implementing mere borrowings from various genres into the game: "We decided to blend two polar gameplays, two genres into one single game – real-rime strategy and role-playing experiences".

As the game's development progressed, that idea found its compelling implementation. Playing Heroes of Annihilated Empires you'll be able to pump up a selected hero in a common RPG manner, as well as build up cities and recruit massive armies, as traditional for RTS games. The know-how though, is that gamers will not only be able to combine these two ways of play, be it single- or multiplayer, but also stick to just one of them entirely.

It will be possible to complete Heroes of Annihilated Empires in two ways. You may either develop your character to a degree as able to confront massive enemy armies, or choose the strategy of numerical superiority to establish your own empire and raise the number of your warriors to thousands.

While the RPG way is represented by heroes, each of the game's four playable races has three heroes to choose from, the RTS line is the way of a military leader with awe-inspiring armies under his command. It is this opposition which determined the genre of Heroes of Annihilated Empires as RTS vs. RPG. This is the way we will refer to the game's genre from now on.

We will start disclosing more information on the title with the launch of its redesigned official web-site www.heroesofae.com in January 2006.

GSC World Publishing are also happy to inform of the title's release date. The first episode of Heroes of Annihilated Empires is expected to ship in September 2006.

4 new Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch maps - Bait, Duel, Hill and Offensive in the straight head to head mode where up to 32 players are pitted against each other in various arenas, the objective being to kill your opponents and make you claim for the top score. Team Deathmatch allows players to team up and collectively aim for their place at the top of the kill table.

Polishing up the Cheats & Hints Section
  [Category : In_House] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 22 2005 @ 17:09 CET]
We have polished our "Cheats & Hints" section a bit up since some text was out of size and when viewing some cheats, the text didn't show up nicely.

This is now all fixed, a long with a few nice colors added to various text bits so ... why not give our Cheats & Hints section a look?

Some games do need cheats because they are too difficult. But of course WE don't use cheats ... never.

Uhm well sometimes we do but don't tell anyone.
Sniper Elite soon ...
  [Category : General_News] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 22 2005 @ 16:39 CET]
If you were wondering if we ever gonna get 'Sniper Elite', from developer Rebellion well ... we have some good news.

Regarding this title there has been some confusing in who publishes it.
Normally Atari was going to publish it, then Ubisoft was in certain countries but not the Benelux.
For those countries and probably others, it's publisher MC2 that handles it but instead we just contacted the developer, Rebellion and they will send us a review copy of Sniper Elite from England, probably after New Year.

So good news for all those Sniper fans out there ... we'll review it!

Atari heats up with more details on Driver: Parallel Lines
[Category : Multiplatform] [Posted by Bjorn on Thursday, December 22 2005 @ 16:32 CET]
Atari today revealed further details on the storyline behind Driver: Parallel Lines, the upcoming Hollywood-style action driving game. Driver: Parallel Lines is the next installment of Atari's legendary action driving franchise.

Currently in development by award-winning studio Reflections Interactive, Driver: Parallel Lines is set for release this Spring for PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and the Xbox® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Driver: Parallel Lines offers an open, fast-paced driving action-movie experience and features an unfolding storyline of double crossing and revenge.

The first half of Driver: Parallel Lines is set in New York City during the 1970s and centers on TK, an 18 year-old driving prodigy seeking fortune and fame. Gifted, popular and arrogant as hell, TK is one of the best drivers-for-hire in town and is known by everyone - from the pimped-out street hustlers, petty criminals, and racer boys to the shadowy crime figures that pay for his skills at the wheel.

TK gets involved with a scheming group bent on taking down one of the biggest names in the underground crime scene. With TK as the getaway driver and the crew as back up, nothing could possibly go wrong. However, in a matter of moments, TK's life dramatically changes. No longer is he a free-wheeling hotshot. Instead he has been double crossed and ultimately is imprisoned for 28 years.

Fast forward to 2006 where the action kicks back in, and TK is older, meaner, and hell bent on settling some serious scores. TK needs to call on every driving trick in his considerable repertoire to tame the over-powered road machines that 2006 presents him. After twenty-plus years in jail, it's time to hit the streets once again.

Driver: Parallel Lines tempts gamers to modify and juice up cars while engaging in the most thrilling Hollywood-style car chases ever. Driver: Parallel Lines provides a free roaming, stylized New York City. With over 35 diverse missions that load without wait times, incredibly realistic driving physics, and a brand new story, Driver: Parallel Lines will be a must-have title for action driving fans.

Unlockable alternate ending in Peter Jackson's King Kong
[Category : Multiplatform] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, December 21 2005 @ 22:33 CET]
Today Ubisoft, one of the world's largest video game publishers, revealed that its critically acclaimed game of the year contender, Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie features an un-lockable, exclusive alternate ending in which players can save the giant ape from his cinematic death, pilot an airplane and discover Kong back home on his native Skull Island.

"I wanted the game to be able to take the audience a bit further than what the film could," said Peter Jackson. "And the final climax of the game gave us an opportunity to do something that the film could not do, which was to have an alternate ending – obviously everybody pretty much knows how King Kong ends."

To unlock the alternate ending, players must complete the entire game and then go back and play through various maps and earn a total of 250,000 points – which is within reason and definitely worth the effort. Other un-lockable features include several Weta Digital concept art galleries, interviews with both Peter Jackson and Academy Award® winner and co-writer Phillipa Boyens, an "old movie" filter, a King Kong theatrical trailer and more.
Konami announce Street Supremacy for PSP
[Category : PSP] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, December 21 2005 @ 22:31 CET]
Konami of Europe has announced it is to launch Street Supremacy, a multi-player racing game, specifically developed by Genki for PSP.

Due for release in March 2006, Street Supremacy is a high-octane racing title featuring a wealth of licensed vehicles. The game is a team-based racer wherein players partake in 'five against five' knockout tournaments in one player mode or can use the PSP's wireless abilities to compete against a second player. In the two-player mode, players select a vehicle and race against the second player in a battle to be first past the winning post. The game's 'Team Battle' mode, however, ups the ante considerably and sets a fiercely competitive challenge.

Street Supremacy's 'Team Battle' mode divides the game map into 15 areas, with teams vying to dominate the game map. The battles are further split into individual races between the different Teams and individual racers, with points awarded for each victory. Players can then judge who to select against specific rivals, cherry-picking their rivals from the player roster as they look to seize territories. The 'Team Battle' also encourages competition within each team, as winning racers are upgraded in their side's rankings and become more instrumental in helping secure areas of the game map.

In addition to Street Supremacy's stunning racing action, the PSP game's cars can also be modified to give you an edge in the races. The game's authentically modelled Nissans, Mitsubishis and Subarus can all be enhanced with new exhausts, engine upgrades and body kits. These all prove vital in shaving seconds off the lap times, while stickers and fancy lights can be used to enhance the car's aesthetics, adding a layer of gloss to an already entertaining PSPTM racer.

Street Supremacy will be released for PSP in March 2006.

XBox 360 comes to PlayDevil
  [Category : In_House] [Posted by Bjorn on Wednesday, December 14 2005 @ 10:51 CET]
The new next gen console from Microsoft has landed in Europe and mainly in Benelux last December, 2nd.

With much pleasure we can confirm that "PlayDevil.com" will cover most of the Xbox 360 games.
At least, every game that publishers sends to our office gets reviewed. As simple as that.

Unfortunately, one problem ... We are still waiting on the Xbox 360 premium with goodies from Microsoft! Since they can't handle the massive production, also for journalists we have to wait till January 2006.

Several XBOX 360 games are already in our office, waiting to get reviewed, Amped 3, Project Gotham Racing 3, Perfect Dark Zero, Kameo: Elements of Power and upcoming Quake 4, Call of Duty 2 while others are coming.

The only thing we can do or better hope, is that Microsoft send our premium Xbox360 console as soon as possible. Lets hope that would be in the first week of January.

Until then, like always we'll cover Xbox 360 news and other interesting information, but for the games and accessories it will be next month.

Lets hope that ain't the case for the upcoming PS3 and Nintendo's Revolution system.

Rainbow Islands comes to the Nintendo DS
  [Category : Nintendo_DS] [Posted by Bjorn on Tuesday, December 13 2005 @ 13:42 CET]
Rising Star Games has announced that it will breathe new life into a genuine arcade legend with the next game in the Revolution series of Nintendo DS updates to classic Taito titles. Rainbow Islands Revolution is set to take the classically refined gameplay of one of Taito's most respected properties and renovate it on new hardware for a new generation of videogamers.

Rainbow Islands endeared itself to an entire generation of gamers in the late 1980s with its playful mix of intense platforming challenges, a delightfully cute visual style and, of course, a heavy emphasis on rainbow-firing action. Rainbow Islands Revolution takes these core elements and transposes them onto the Nintendo DS and its innovative hardware features.

The most significant adaptation is also the most revolutionary. The entire control method is now Touch Screen based, considerably altering the original's "run, rainbow, jump" gameplay. Bub or Bob now sit in an eternally floating bubble, moved around the levels by touching and dragging with the Nintendo DS stylus. The pacing and strategic possibilities afforded by such a radical change in the control system creates a re-interpretation that sits naturally on the two screened handheld and suits its unique hardware features perfectly - right down to the implementation of an all-new method for creating the game's signature rainbows.

Most excitingly, rainbows are now drawn directly onto the field of play, which brings an entirely new dynamic to the classic design. The freedom and power of this new rainbow method has been tempered by restricting the rainbow length, although this can be extended by picking up certain powerups that will be familiar to players of the original. Further alterations to the rainbow system include the ability to use rainbows to trap enemies – either individually or in groups, provided the player has enough rainbow power. There's even a special mode that when activated, allows the player to clear the screen of enemies for massive bonuses and easier progress.

Series fans will be glad to know that whilst the central gameplay has been radically altered to suit its new hardware, the overall look and feel of Rainbow Islands Revolution remains in the familiar classic Taito style, with new player sprites designed by Harvest Moon artist Igusa Matsuyama. The original's enemies and bosses also return in their vintage guises, as does the bonus-item frenzy of Rainbow Island's immensely satisfying "Goal In!" level endings.

Release date : February 2006.

Party party party with Mario Party 7
[Category : GameCube] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, December 12 2005 @ 14:38 CET]
Nintendo launches the latest title in its hugely popular Mario Party series. Combining dice based movement with exciting mini games, Mario Party 7 is the ultimate party game and for the first time ever, you can play with up to seven friends. Mario Party 7 launches across Europe on the Nintendo GameCube on 10th February 2006.

The Mario Party series provides great fun for all the family and the latest edition to the series, Mario Party 7, is no exception and is perfect for those long cold winter nights. See our heroes relaxing on a complimentary cruise given to them by Toadsworth along with two new characters to the series, Birdo and Dry Bones. However, Bowser and Mini-Bowser find out that they haven't been invited and decide to seek revenge by wrecking the trip for everyone else.

The game's main Solo Cruise mode takes a similar format to other Mario Party games. The objective on each of the six game boards is to complete the tasks set within a set number of 'Turns'. The goal is to collect a minimum amount of coins or stars and players take it in turns to throw a virtual dice and move around the board spaces. The spaces the characters land on determine whether a mini-game can ensue with coins and stars to be won.

If you're looking for something a bit different, the vivid and exciting fantasy world of Mario Party 7 will be right up your street. Each interactive game board is totally different, ranging from Grand Canal, a classic European style town featuring balloons and gondolas, to Pagoda Peak, a 4000 year old Asian mountain and then onto Neon Heights, a bustling metropolis filled with skyscrapers.

Once players have unlocked a further five game boards in the game's Solo Cruise mode, they can play them all with up to four friends in Party Cruise mode. This latest title to the series allows up to eight players to play at once. Players are even able to share the pads so that two people can use the same one to play together! Deluxe Cruise mode features two exciting multiplayer modes, Freeplay, which is a co-operative two-man team battle and Ice Battle, which is a free for all allowing players to take part in selected mini-games.

What's more, Mario Party 7 comes bundled with the Nintendo GameCube microphone, allowing players to give spoken commands to their on-screen counterpart and take part in question and answer quizzes. The microphone can also be used in multiplayer battles, with one player using the microphone to complete a task, while the other three use the standard game pad to compete with them.

The fun doesn't stop there either! In total Mario Party 7 features a staggering 88 brand new mini-games, which can be unlocked and played in Mini-Game Cruise mode and a Duty-Free shop where people can trade in their points in exchange for extra features. If zany multiplayer fun is your thing, then Mario Party 7 is the title for you in 2006.

Mario Party 7 launches across Europe on 10th February 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube at the estimated retail price of £39.99 and comes bundled with the Nintendo GameCube microphone.
Mario & Luigi launches soon for NDS
  [Category : Nintendo_DS] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, December 12 2005 @ 14:33 CET]
Double the brothers, double the trouble as Mario and Luigi hit the Nintendo DS in their exciting new adventure, Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time. Join the Mario Bros in one of their most insane adventures yet as they indulge in a spot of time travel, bump into themselves as babies and generally save the world. Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time will pull Europe kicking and screaming into a temporal rift on 10th February 2006.

In their second adventure, Mario & Luigi team up to save Princess Peach from the clutches of the Shroobs, monsters from the Dark Purple Mushroom planet. Peach is captured as she tests a newly invented time machine, so it's left up to our heroes, Mario and Luigi, to use the time warp portals to save the Princess and stop the Mushroom Kingdom being taken over by one of the weirdest enemies ever seen.

But they're not alone; diapers and dummies can mean only one thing, Baby Mario & Luigi are making a return as well! During their time travels the Mario Bros bump into themselves as babies. As well as working in pairs, all four Mario Bros can team up when the going gets tough. Two heads may be better than one, but four are definitely better than two! Brothers should always stick together and the Mario Bros certainly do – allowing them to perform special moves and use their combined abilities to tackle the obstacles in their way. They can also split up and solve puzzles by accessing different areas at the same time.

Launching on the Nintendo DS, Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time takes full advantage of the console's dual screens. Battle scenes span over both displays giving action scenes a full dramatic affect and for enemies that are so big, or just plain weird, a single screen is simply not enough!

So prepare to step back in time for another wacky adventure from Nintendo. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time goes on sale across Europe on 10th February 2006 at the estimated retail price of around £29.99.

The dust has cleared from the European launch of Xbox 360, the next-generation video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and preliminary reports indicate it's a runaway hit.

Thousands of gamers queued up at stores in the 16 European launch countries on the evening of 1st December to be among the first to purchase Xbox 360, resulting in a sell-out situation across the region in its first day at retail. Early reports also show a huge demand for games and accessories, with most customers leaving stores not only with an Xbox 360, but with multiple games and accessories.

Top-selling games include "Perfect Dark Zero" (Rare-Microsoft Game Studios), "Project Gotham Racing 3" (Bizarre Creations-MGS), "Kameo: Elements of Power" (Rare – MGS), FIFA Road to the World Cup (EA Sports), "Call of Duty 2" (Activision), and Peter Jackson's King Kong (Ubisoft). Accessories like the Wireless Networking Adapter, extra Wireless Controllers and Faceplates also proved popular.

Despite the sell-out, gamers who missed out on launch day can still experience the next generation of gaming and entertainment this Christmas. Xbox will be replenishing stock at retail over the coming weeks and into 2006, so anxious gamers should continue to check back at their local retailer.

Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble Battles Its Way Onto GameCube
[Category : GameCube] [Posted by Bjorn on Monday, December 5 2005 @ 17:21 CET]
Capcom is the developer and publisher of this game and Nintendo of Europe is the Distributor. Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble launches across Europe on the Nintendo GameCube on 24th February 2006.

Unlike its predecessors, Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble is not a platform game, but is instead a fast paced and crazy multiplayer 'beat-em up'. Captain Blue has decided to retire and is looking for a successor to take over as the hero in his films. Joe and his rivals must battle it out on various film sets to prove they deserve to land this role.

In Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble, points mean prizes! Players must compete with their rivals over a series of exciting levels, securing points by completing the missions set. Most levels include up to four different missions, which range from defeating enemies against the clock, to collecting gems and defeating boss characters. Each mission follows on directly from the last giving the stages a hectic, fast-paced feel, with most missions taking under one minute to complete. As an added twist, players can steal points off their rivals by attacking them!

On top of their standard attack moves, players have another way to defeat their opponents in half the time! During the stages players can collect special VFX powers which when activated, allow them to slow down or freeze time, attack at mach speed and even use sonic attacks against their foes.

Every true hero needs a sidekick, so Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble lets you team up with a friend to tip the odds in your favour. Two players can team up and battle their way through the game's Story Mode in the first co-operative mode seen to date in the franchise.

The levels in Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble take place over a series of vivid, colourful and exciting movie themed back-drops. Players will experience the wild west in 'Midnight Shootout', fight on top of an aircraft against a giant dinosaur in 'King John Dogfight' and fight with their rivals as they fall from a high building in 'Sky-High Building Battle'.

Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble launches on 24th February 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube at the estimated retail price of around £39.99.
