I'm just wondering, does anybody know if there is ANY difference between playing games in 1080i or 1080p?

The reason why i'm asking is, i still have a launch Xbox 360 (yes the oldest one ) and it doesn't have a HDMI port so i can only do component with 1080i.

Now lets say it has one, would it be much difference in 1080p? P stands for progessive so does that mean that most jagged edges are more smooth ?

 if you have a 1080p tv, then yes, you would see a difference if you bought an hdmi console

Ian, well i have a FULL HD one ... ps3 with hdmi going to 1080p

but for the x360, since i hasn't got any hdmi port, i can only run at it max 1080i.

So just wondering if there would be a big difference if, lets say, i buy an X360 with a hdmi port and run it in 1080p comparing with the 1080i i run now.

hi Bjorn im new to this site but you need a xbox 360 hd lead i have one their is a switch on it to convert from normal  to full hd you will no the diverence straight away also their are dh settings on the xbox which can be changed i had to change mine form 720 to 1080 full hd i hope this has helped you if you need anymore assisitance and i can help please e-mail me and ill point you in the right direction hope this helps thanks

 i think you would see a decent difference- however it depends whether you think that the difference would be worth paying for a new 360 or not?!

Well i do have a X360 HD cable since i have it connected to a FULL HD Plasma.

X360 is set at 1080i but i can't select 1080p since i have no hdmi output on my launch (yes it's an old one ) X360.

Just wondering if the "i" is much different then the "p" behind 1080 since "i" stands for "interlaced" and "p" for progessive.

There should be a HDMI kit which connects to your x360 through another output.

 yeah, there is quite a big difference mate.

But at the same time, a new console/hdmi converter kit is pretty expensive- so it depends if you think it is worth it?

BUT: what resolution is your tv?

I'm running 1080i now with component

But it's a FULL HD tv so i can get 1080p with hdmi

(running 1080p with ps3 over hdmi)
