It is now six months ago that PSVita had its European launch and in this time the flagship Sony handheld has received somewhat mixed publicity thanks in no small part to the slow game releases which have been drip fed rather than being released in vast numbers.

Having said this, there is no denying that a high percentage of games released for the console have been pretty impressive (with the exception of one or two duffers) which suggests that Sony have gone for quality rather than quantity, however gamers worldwide stiill perhaps expected a little more....I know I did!

This is not to say that I am becoming disillusioned as I still have a lot of love for my Vita and can appreciate the obvious potential it offers, especially when our reviewers Ian and Alex gave some positive feedback when they got to try out some of the games to be released in the near future at the recent Gamescom event in Cologne.

This, in addition to the news that the console will now support PS1 downloads does fill me with some optimism that the Vita will still be a hit. However I still can't help but feel that the console was perhaps released a few months too early or if it had a bigger catalogue of games then it would have proven a much bigger success.

My prediction is that the Vita still has a good couple of years of life left in it yet as there is no denying its obvious quality however for this to be achieved then it needs a little more love from the good people at Sony HQ!

It needs the install base to build up steam. Give it Monster Hunter and it could be saved by Japan alone… but Nintendo has that. Unless*****Creed or CoD hit hard, it could already be a Gamecube.
