Graphics and Sound:
The 2D art in BDP is quite nice, and the sprites are colourful and animated pretty well, but I still don’t think it really has the same cartoon feel of the 360 title. It could be almost any other 2D RPG on the DS.
However, the real disappointment to me is not the fact that it all looks more generic than before, but the fact that there is no 3D artwork. Games like Final Fantasy 3 & 4 have revolutionised the way RPGs are played on handheld devices, and all the major titles coming out now are using one of these engines.
Sound, is however, quite a bit better, with some pretty decent music, speech and overall sound quality being pretty good for the DS. However, DS sound quality has always been pretty poor, and again, this won’t stop me listening to my ipod whilst playing the game, which is a real shame.
If only more games had sound as good as the castlevania games on DS!
Multiplayer:
N/A
Conclusion:
"Blue dragon Plus" is a little bit of a disappointment. And to be fair, that’s no huge surprise. The first game was Mistwalker’s weakest 360 game, with a generic set of characters and plot, and this hasn’t really been much improved upon, even with the smaller scale of the game.
It’s also disappointing to see that there’s no 3D graphics, which are starting to become the norm for similar games on the DS. BDP is by no means a bad game, but with the fantastic set of RPGs already available for DS, it’s hard to really recommend this over some of the other fantastic titles.
Pros:
+ Lots of content
+ Pretty good sound for DS + Combat works well Cons: - Just like 360 version
