Graphics And Sound:
Graphically, the game is actually pretty impressive, using Unreal 3 technology, 50 looks good, as do the G-Unit.
In fact, all character models look nice, although the terrorists have a habit of looking pretty generic most of the time, and could have done with more model variations.
The levels have some pretty good effects, and are also pretty big. Despite the desert setting, there’s also a reasonable amount of variation and I never felt particularly bored by the design or the vistas. It’s not of the highest standard, but it’s certainly a very competent release graphically.
Music is ok, but a bit less impressive, unless you love the music of 50. Sound effects are competent, and voice acting is so unbelievably cheesy and over-the-top that it’s become a running joke with my mates.
Music, from the man himself, plays quietly but constantly in the background, from nowhere, like 50 has speakers built into his chest.
Multiplayer:
Oddly, there’s no competitive play in BotS. Having said that, it’s not the worst decision that’s ever been made. I can’t imagine that deathmatch would have bought anything fresh or new to the stable, and would have been pretty vanilla.
Instead, you get a 2 player online only drop-in, drop-out co-op game, where the other player assumes the role of one of the G-Unit. It works really well, with no lag, and it’s easy to set up and get into games as well.
It also helps you out quite if you choose to play on the tougher difficulty levels, as well as earning you some more achievements on the 360 version.
Conclusion:
"50 Cent: Blood On The Sand" is big dumb, and a lot of fun. It doesn’t care that it’s ripped off 'Gears of War' and 'The Club' and mashed them together. It doesn’t care that every other word of dialogue is an f-bomb. It’s insanely mad to the point of being trippy- you really have to wonder what goes on in the mind of 50.
However, his ridiculous imagination has resulted in one of the most over-the-top games of all time. A small minority of people will find it offensive, but the rest will just laugh it off as being an almost brilliant piece of satirical gaming that on one hand doesn’t take itself seriously, yet you know that 50 Cent was deadly serious when he was sitting down with the producers.
It helps that the game actually plays ok too! A surprisingly good game, this can be recommended to just about anyone with a sense of humour!
Pros:
+ Big
+ Dumb + Fun Cons: - Big
