Multiplayer mayhem:
Although the main single player mode can get repetitive very quickly, undoubtedly the highlight of the game is the four player multiplayer mode which can be played both online and locally. Without question this certainly makes the game far more enjoyable and certainly adds more value to the package.
In the online games I played the action runs fairly smoothly admittedly with a few laggy games however if you find a good group of players the game proves to be a real blast and it becomes clear that the developers have certainly put the effort into making the multiplayer aspect a success.
Other game modes:
To further add value the game also includes a further amount of unlock able game modes and for this it certainly proves that the game represents good value for it’s 800ms point cost.
The modes in question are Chainsaw only which simply sees the player attempting to complete the game using only chainsaws, Blackout which sees the action taking place in near darkness which has an effect on the amount the player can see, Hardcore is simply a harder variation of the original game and Turbo which speeds up the action and ensures that the action becomes far more intense.
Undoubtedly these additional modes add a nice amount of variety and does stop the game from becoming repetitive too quickly.
Conclusion:
Being yet another twin stick shooter could put off many potential players who are sick of the constant amount of releases in this genre however "Zombie Apocalypse" is a good effort.
Personally I feel that it is never going to win any design awards and the action can become repetitive and challenging very quickly although the amount of content and the inclusion of a very good four player multiplayer mode then this is a game well worth checking out particularly for anyone looking for a game which they can enjoy in short blasts.
Pros:
+ Excellent four player multiplayer
+ Good amount of content + Perfect game for playing in short blasts Cons:
- Uninspiring presentation
- Action can become very repetitive
- Yet another twin stick shooter
