Multiplayer:
There is, surprisingly, some multiplayer included. You can play the challenge levels in local, split-screen to challenge a mate who might be round.
However, unless you both own the game, it’s probably unlikely that there would be much competition in it, whilst the cramped screen makes timing more difficult- I’d rather have the option to take people on online with a full screen, but it’s still a reasonable inclusion due to the fact it’s such an unusual choice for this genre.
Conclusion:
"Topatoi" is a great game, sorely let down by a few niggles. The difficulty ramps up too quickly, the physics are pretty wonky for a game that has quite a few physics based puzzles, and the animation and art design can be pretty shoddy in places. Yet in places, it can be charming, good-looking, puzzling, and great fun to play. There’s also an interesting story, and plenty to do and see with the challenge rooms and multiplayer. It’s certainly a reasonable effort at a DLC platformer, but it could have been so much better with just a little bit more time and effort. As it is, it’s worth a shot if you like the genre, or indeed if you fancy a more sedate experience on the PSN.
Pros: + Graphical Quality
+ Novel story + Plenty to do Cons: - Animation
- Some art design - Physics
