Every time I go to TGS the number of attractive women each publisher manages to convince to squeeze into their company issued "short skirts and boob tubes" stuns me. It makes sense of course, people take thousands of photos of these girls and smear them all over the web, their branded clothing and the brochures they hold reach more people through these photos than any number of flyers handed out at the show ever could.

 

I feel slightly awkward taking pictures of them, they are just working after all, doing a job, they probably don’t appreciate being stopped every six seconds to pose for another picture by another guy trying to angle their camera in a manner that invades their dignity. But in truth this is actually what they are paid for, to be eye candy for the thousands of otaku and game press who come to the show, and be swine flu magnets.

 

So I dutifully took pictures of them, because lets face it, you all want to see them.

 

Slightly different to the booth babes are the "coz-players". Firstly these girls are not paid to be there. They are their own small community of enthusiasts who go to extraordinary lengths for their passion. They are there for the attention, to have their pictures taken by people who (literally) queue to get a chance to have their coz-player of choice pose for them.

These guys and girls range form stunning to inappropriate and out right confusing. All of them though are incredibly creative individuals, who put aside their usual Japanese restraint for a day for a chance to show off their skills and live their fantasies.

 

Applaud all these individuals for their hard work and creativity (and curse the poor lighting and my lack of a decent camera).
